    Hi All,
On Monday, some Tibetan monks will be giving a presentation at our college. There will be a blessing ceremony and a lecture followed by a question and answer session regarding Buddhism.

I plan to attend, as I would like to hear more about Buddhism straight from the horse's mouth. If any of you have any questions that you would like me to ask for you if I get the chance, please post them before Monday morning.Just be aware-I will NOT ask the monks if they wear underwear under their robes:)

Buddhism is a lot like Christianity in that the religion that gets carried on
in the founder's name is not exactly what the founder had in mind.

Buddism altimute goal is to reach none exsistence (nirvana), what exactly goes out of exsistence? They dont believe in the soul...

None exsistance, is that a reward that we should strive for? or is it a gift?

Buddism teaches that we should all learn to disconnect from all the things in our life, meditation is a tool to help us disconnect or disassociate from all our connections. Question...Does this mean we should also disconnect from Buddah? And from all literature written by Buddists? If so what is the purpose of connecting with buddism? Sounds to me like the JW disconnecting with everything except the GB, which then gives them total control over our mind.

in the agonising cycle of reincarnation (which is a purpose of freeing ourselves from all guilt in past life) why is it that billions are still in exsistence? We have had plenty of time to learn and pay for our guilt by reliving our lives, what makes you think we can achieve a guiltless none exsistence now?

Surely this would put us on the treadmill of trying to reach perfection yet never being free from guilt because we have never been able to reach perfection ? (that sounds a bit jumbled) Sounds very much like JWism again.

    straight from the horse's mouth.

would that be the horse buda rides in on?

How do you know that you will be getting any acurate info by listening to a person market thier movement? They will either sell you on it or they won't, but don't think you will get anything "straight" from any mouth horse or otherwise.

I love to read about Buddhism. The Dalai Lama is amazing. I keep meaning to buy one of his books.

I know many Buddhists. They are so peaceful. I love it!! But not for me. Just like to read about it, and learn new things.

Mulan I agree with this :

I know many Buddhists. They are so peaceful

and that the Dala has some good insight into certain things. As do other religious leaders.

    I agree with this too:

No one can take advantage of you, without your permission." Ann Landers

Thats probably just as true or profound as anything the Dala says, we are personally responsible for what we give our lives over to.

Its unfortunate that my freinds who converted to Buddhism have constant internal battles regardless of the peace they display outwardly, they also deny reality now and are striving to reach perfection in a way that would exhaust JWs. I appreciate that is what they have given their permission too, it is their choice.
