Interesting observations jws. A good note on that peak number - as we all know the peak is not very meaningful in anyway since it is artifically inflated. This can be true in cases where they have a push to reactivate inactives, for example. Joe Pub hasn't turned in FS time in 2 months, and they get him to report this month (I.E. Aug) and last month's (July) figures - we guess what? He counts as 2 in Aug! That's one way peaks can be inflated.

On that average figure you are talking about, that included all the special, regular and aux pioneers too, so to me that's pretty low average. The normal publisher average # they usually report is for publishers only, with the pioneer figures removed. Last I heard that average was in the 8-9 hour range. It was 10-12 a few years ago (mid 90's).

I think that after the events of 9/11, quit a few came back for a while, so the statistics could reflect that. That is comprehensible, since some are right on the fence, not knowing which side they belong to. Whenever things will go lousy in the world, people come back to God for survival reasons.

If you want to look at something interesting, examine the average number of Witnesses
per congregation worldwide and nation by nation.

The slacker element is growing.

Met, you or anyone have these stats (as posted above for 2002) for the past few years? The JWStat site just has some of the info, but not the grid that they publish in the WT mags.

Edit to say - 82.7 pubs per congo in the US during 2002, and 84.5 in 2001. Hmmm. Don't know how that compares to previous years though.

With all due respect, how many people when active JW's turned in their time and "inflated" their hours so as to appear more spiritual or righteous? I think just about all of us did it. So, it goes without saying that these numbers are inflated.

When you also add the fact that the WTS has gone to the lengths of lying about everything necessary to control their members, what makes you think they will not lie and What's a few numbers here or there?

Use common sense people. If you were a JW, you know this. Just about everything on that report is pure, unadulterated BULLSHIT.

I guess I must've been one of the lone idiots in my congregations as I always reported the actual hours in the field. I thought that if I didn't, it could affect the Congregations' having Jehovah's spirit. But, that was because I believed in the first place that it was "The Truth" and that it did indeed have the Supreme Being's blessing. Oh what a difference "Crisis of Conscience" and "In Search of Christian Freedom" make!

JW's from their GB all the way down to most of the R\F members have throughout the years demonstrated that they are world class liers willing to manipulate anything as long as it serves the purposes of mother WT and the geezers who run the place. They'll with a straight face lie to protect the image of the WT so it shoudn't come as no surprise that they'll "Pad Time" to appear more righteous than the next or to keep the elder police off their backs. When I was attending meetings, I was guilty of it and every JW I know are guilty of "padding time".

These service reports are nothing more than an extension of their fantasy paradise and they'll get no attention from me.

This made a huge difference. Even locally I noticed it. Right after this attack the parking lot at the local Hall was jammed pack for several weeks. Heck, on some Sundays they didn't have enough parking! Now things are back to normal. Parking lot half empty during the meetings on Thursday and only 3/4 full for Sunday's meeting.

And I agree with Reborn. The Society KNOWS that any report of major losses would accelerate the spiraling figures. If they'd lie about issues that have actually killed people, what's the big deal for them to fudge some numbers on a report.
