Thousands Thronging to True Worship (sub-heading)
Jehovah is now performing great and praiseworthy deeds in connection with our preaching activity…………………….(parag..12)

    (parag 18)
…..Consult the current Yearbook of Jehovah's Witnesses, and note the lands now reporting from 100,000 to nearly 1,000,000 Kingdom publishers. This is powerful proof that the Kingdom-preaching work is being blessed by Jehovah.

OK then lets have a look at those countries………………..

I wouldn't call it proof of God's blessing……unless you are talking about a puny, ineffectual impotentate. Last year Japan's congregations went from to 3732 to 3538…..approx a loss of 4 per week!…….with blessings like that I wouldn't like the maledictions!

    Hello everyone,

sorry for been late to provide you with an
    answer.

*The implication I get is surely not in line
with the quotes from the WTS 2001 yearbook!

    Statistics of Jehovah's Witnesses
    Graphic Presentation of Jehovah's Witnesses
    Activities in the World
    1988 through 2000
(Updated 12-1-00 using 2000 service year report)

    Introduction
The following charts are created based on the statistics published each year in the January 1st issue of The Watchtower. Data published from 1988 through 2000 were used. Countries with average publishers greater than 1000 were analyzed in these charts. Country profile charts were created based on size and my own personal interest. For example, I analyzed small countries in the former Soviet Union and Asia which I have a keen interest in.

    Highlight of 2000 Statistics
    1. This year's overall increase in the average number of publishers is 2.28%, which is a slight increase compared to last year's 1.98%. The declining trend that started in many European countries in 1995 is expanding to many parts of the world and accelerating, but increase in African, South American and countries of former Soviet Union are still strong, offsetting the decline in developed countries.
Countries with zero or negative growth in 1999:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Britain, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.S.A.
Countries with zero or negative growth in 2000:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Britain, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.S.A.
Most developed countries in Europe, North America, Oceania and Japan show consistent pattern of zero or negative growth. Japan showed rather dramatic turn around this year and for the first time it posted negative growth, a stark contrast to the heyday of 80's and early 90's. Click here to view growth rate in Japan. The five countries which lost the largest number of publishers are France, Japan, Germany, Britain and Canada in this order, and total loss of those five countries is 7466. The five countries which gained the largest number of publishers are Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, Dem.Rep.of Congo, and Ukraine with total gain of 60452. (See also chart below.) Throughout the world, total increase of publisher number is 129,016. Above five countries account for about half of the total increase in the world. "

I just downloaded the WTS figures on their website to a spreadsheet with the last 4 years data on it.

When I total their world population figures it adds up to a little over 4 billon. So, JW's have according to their figures, 25,000 pubs preaching to 2 billon people (ratio 1:80,000). Add in India's population and thus 47,000 pubs have 3 billion to preach too. That is 47,000 publishers have half the world's population. I wouldn't call that global preaching.

    Greetings, ISP

Consult the current Yearbook of Jehovah's Witnesses, and note the lands now reporting from 100,000 to nearly 1,000,000 Kingdom publishers. This is powerful proof that the Kingdom-preaching work is being blessed by Jehovah.

That's funny! Heres a quote from the Jan. 15,2001 Watchtower. (it was said right after a bunch of numbers and statistics regarding how JWs were growing)

Of course, the number of those associated with Jehovah's Witnesses is not a criterion for determining if they enjoy divine favor; nor do statistics impress God.

    peace,
    bsw
