Why Was YOUR Meeting Cancelled?

Do you have any odd or unusual reasons why the elder's decided to cancel one of your meetings?

I don't know if this is necessarily unusual but our Hall lost power one cold day. The meeting was cancelled. We were then advised that we should bring candles and flashlights to the next Thursday night meeting in case it happens again.

We only canceled when there was snow and ice on the roads.

Was wondering, who is that in your profile? Its funny!

    Tink-

I pulled that gif off the 'net. I cracked up when I saw it. I have no idea who it is. However, it must be someone famous because it looks like it was shown on the 'E' channel.

Here's the truth: Some congregations cancel meetings because of dangerous road
    conditions like storms and snow.

Circuit overseers will put pressure on the elders to hold the meeting later in the
week - TO MAINTAIN THE HABIT OF MEETING ATTENDANCE AND CONTROL! Elders will point
out that this lowers the attendance average because a re-scheduled meeting won't be
    attended by as many.

and so it goes, in cult maintenance

we had a whole week of meetings cancelled because some scumbag brought in scabees and the hall had to be bombed...one of the best weeks of my life

In my experience they would do amost anything rather than cancel a meeting.

If the Sunday Speaker did not show up then someone would produce a spare outline and read it with all the scripteres just to make up the 45 mins. I was an elder too, but although I would want to say "Lets go home early " , peer pressure pevented me from speaking up. Freeom of speech is a luxury afforded to feisty old sisters and the "spiritually weak"

I can recall a meeting by torch and candlelight. To hell with Fire Regulations!

How about a backed up toilet that spewed sewage all over the KH? The following weekend the congregation was given counsel on the proper disposal of diapers and "feminine supplies".

Rarely cancelled, even with severe storms. We had a PO who apparently beleived we were all postal workers " Neither rain nor sleet nor snow..."

In our hall if the sunday speaker cancelled or didn't show up, they did the watchtower first to give the "substitute" time to prepare.

What was really funny is if you lived in a city that had several congregations with meetings on the same night and some cancelled and some did not. Some brothers did not use "soundness of mind" when it came to considering toting children and older ones in bad weather.
