WBTS will lose many over what has happened this year.Then there will be the staunch supporters who have been there so long,they have been institutionalized.Like someone who has spent too long in prison,and can`t function in the outside world..In the end,thats all WBTS may have as members..Not much money in that small a group..It`s all about money$$$$$...OUTLAW

Boy Simon are you ever right. Have you noticed how the gait of JWs walking from door-to-door has slowed over the years? Used to be when I was little, people fairly ran from house to house so as to finish up that territory card and get another. By the time I came along, it had slowed to a sort of medium saunter. The last time I saw anybody going house to house was last year and it looked like the guy was taking all the will power he could muster to force one foot in front of the other, and the sisters were following along behind. And so the brother would stop, look over his shoulder and move his lips like he was talking to them, and they would look up at him and move their lips like they were responding. Then he'd turn around and force two more steps out of himself. I'm tellin' ya I've never seen anything like it. But I know exactly how he felt. Who the hell wants to be the guy who interrupts a family's Saturday morning together with some bullshit publication printed on cheap grade triple Z paper and poor ink that gets on your fingers telling you that you and your kids are going to be killed by god unless you get your shit together and get out there and sell magazines like these other schmoos? Not me!!
But that Saturday Shuffle between houses, it's getting slower and slower. Pretty soon it's going to get where they stand on the corner and do a speil like a newspaper boy. "Watchtowers. Everything helps. The problem I think is that the witness rank and file are largely unaware of what is happening. Not like the WTS is going to talk about it.
So, in my opinion, the internet is the way to go. When a witness feels curious enough, they will look here, and they can do it without anyone knowing.
Some will get angry and tell the WTS to f off, and others it will trouble them, and they will start to lose their faith in the WTS.
Either way, I hope they see the real light.
The internet has just begun. Imagine 10 years from now, it will be a whole new ball game.
I just hope the jws were right when they said, one day all religions will fall and be destroyed. That's going to be a time to celebrate.

I have to agree with Shera's sentiment. I remember back in the 70's there was alot of bad press about the Moonies. They still exist. Scientology is another one that I can think of that gets more negative press than positive. They're still going. That doesn't mean that people shouldn't keep speaking out against the WTS. It will probably help to keep down the number of new recruits. I know that I would never have considered becoming a JW if I'd had access to the info that's available today. Why doesn't my "enter" key work on this page? The same thing happened a month or two ago. ?????

We have it RIGHT - however, for now, discernment will be needed to note their
troubles.
This organization excels in lying and covering up - however:
They began downsizing Bethel (a thousand, reported)
They dumped subscriptions - and most large print and taped subs.
They began a campaign to squeeze the numbers upwards ( ask yourself, why now?)
It's working - time is not their friend

Here is one person who "saw the light" as a result of the Dateline show. That is not to say, of course, that I wasn't already "primed" to leave the WTS, albeit only "mentally and emotionally" for the moment (see my original post re my elderly mother as the reason why I'm still attending the occasional meeting) (I don't know how to link the url to this post). All those issues (UN, child abuse, etc.) are taking a toll. Many of us have to go through all the cognitive dissonance of life as a Witness before realizing that the problem is not us, as the FDS would have us believe, but rather the organization itself. It takes time for all this stuff to filter through a person's consciousness and then hit home in a big enough way for us to make the break, particularly if we've grown up in the borg. I know of another person who has left the WTS as a result of the UN scandal. How she found about it, I dont know, and seeing as how English is not her language I doubt shes posting here on this site or any other American/British site. I havent checked out French language sites yet, though I may in the future. So take heart! These things are having an effect.
BTW, thank you Simon for hosting this site! You have helped so much in enabling many of us to see the light !
Jim, you know that I love you, but nothing will move the WTS faster than a trip to hell......
