I couldn't hear it either. But it's just silliness to me. One hall in our area says a brother with a mustache can not be used. So an elder than moved into that hall wasn't going to be used until he shaved it off. After about 6 months he gave in, shaved it and got announced as an elder. Then the next day he started growing it back. What could they do now?

Another example of the blatant stupidity of the Watchtower Society doctrine and belief system.
There is absolutely NO Scriptural basis for them to govern a man as to whether he should have a beard or not. In fact, all of their literature depict the most holy men in history, whether it be Jesus, the Apostles, Moses, Aaron, Solomon, etc, WITH a beard. Mention this to an elder and they simply tell you to be obedient and fall in line. Do not ask questions. I know, it happened to me.
Yes, they associate having a beard with independent thinking, and to think critically for oneself is not allowed.
I truly hate the JW's.

I heard it .What made me gag was at the end when he says people want to grow beards as a symbol of being independent in their minds. I have heard other explainations that sound so pitifully stupid i just couldn't believe what I heard such as only radicals and homosesuals like beards.Definately one the arguements I had with the organization.It's like saying because bin ladden has a beard that somehow you growing one makes you bin ladden .

I remember a black brother that had a beard - he claimed that shaving caused his facial hair to grow back into his skin - a condition fairly common among those with tightly curled hair. Those dictatorial, you-will-do-what-we-say clowns told him he had to get a note from his doctor. That still turns my stomach.
I remember the congregation being 'admonished' that although they encourage short hair, we should not have our hair 'too short.' You see, that particular style was popular amongst the homosexual community.
Yup, wear your hair exactly this length, shave exactly this way - or we won't let you in.
You know, that should be enough for anyone to see that we do not have some 'true religion' here.
