@poopie, her name is Monica Applegate. She didin't appear to be an expert at the Royal Commission but here is her bio.

The legal firm she works for proudly proclaims the following:

Examples of civil matters in which PD&A experts have testified or consulted include those involving:

    • Claims against the Big Brothers, Boy Scouts of America, Y.M.C.A., Roman Catholic Church, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jehovah’s Witnesses, foster care services, schools, camps, sports teams, hospitals, and other organizations for sexual offenses against children

So, Jehovah's Witnesses are in jolly good company with the Roman Catholic Church and the Mormons (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Applegate is an appropriate name however it is Applewhite. Applewhite is an expert witness she is paid in the vicinity of $10000 per day and that proves it. Applewhite is not competent as an expert witness she has misunderstood much and wasted time in this Royal commission

She had a one day seminar in Qld just before the rc at $400 per seat. It would be revealing to know what the wts is paying her.

I wonder if her thesis' were full of "I think so" and "maybe" as was her time on the stand?

For an 'expert' she was vague.

Looked like she produced a "report" based on WT literature only.
It was very amazing as the commission tossed it out immediately.

Nice way to spend that money.
A letter to her office condemning her despicable "work" might bring some justice.

She knows pedos move freely from cong to cong without the new cong being warned by means of the letter of introduction. She knows that Kendrick's letter stated that he was "good with children" in the Conti case.

She clearly did not expect the RC lawyer to scrutinize her credentials and appeared visibly affected when the RC lawyer took her through those credentials in excruciating detail and ascertained in the process she has no peer-reviewed publications and little clinical experience in working with vulnerable groups such as children.

Also - and more relevant - her "expertise" so to speak as a witness was confined to reviewing JW organization's published articles of child sexual abuse and being provided information by the Watchtower legal counsel. In short, she had not assessed JW organization's actual policies and procedures of child sexual abuse nor interviewed victims of abuse who have been re-traumatized by JW organization's in-house "investigations".

It is little wonder that the overwhelming picture of Dr Applewhite is of someone who constantly wears a perplexed expresion, speaks in a hesitant manner and falls back on an almost obsequious style - when pressed - of agreeing with the RC lawyer.

Dr Applewhite is a paid-for-brains ivory tower expert with little firsthand understanding of actual clinical application of best practice guidelines.

As well as the JW organization, clients include the Roman Church and Mormons. What do these groups all share in common? Standouts are tight, hierarchical authoritarian structures, claims of having unique access to God's will, an intolerance of dissent and resort to ex-communication (disfellowshipping).

It wouldn't surprise me if she has been working for the WTS as a "consultant". At one point iin her testimony she said "we" and then quickly changed to "I"..."would have to look at that" - when questioned about a problem with the WT policy.

From her claimed and apparent knowledge of the WT literature, she has been working with the WT quite a bit. And was pretty familiar with their procedures.

I think she has a fairly long standing relationship with the WTS.

She is paid to write reports and trot into courts saying, "[insert name here] is doing a wonderful job protecting children." She collects her money. Children continue to get abused.

What a shitty way to make a living helping religions/delusional institutions getting away with it's dirty laundry and exposing more children to harmful pedophiles.
