Well, I must say that my life outside of the organisation is far more richer and fullfilling than it ever was with those on the inside. I find that my expectations of others are far more reasonable now than they ever were.

I am ashamed of the fact that I was blinded by their dogma, that the rest of the world was evil.

Since I have left all of that behind, I find real joy in treating people on a more equal basis and accepting others for what they are and not what they believe in.

Oh yes, I also know people that lie, that fornicate, that are gay. But they do not pretend otherwise.

I could name more hypocrites in the congregation that I left than in my worldly circles.

My dub Mom is always telling me how terrible the people in the world are, and how they have no morals, etc. Whenever I tell her about my personal friends, and how they would never do the things reported on the news, she just says I am too innocent to see what people are like. She gets this smug look on her face that I just HATE!!! And, a quick history lesson will show that there have been catastrophes many times past that darn near wiped out the population, and humans pretty much just started over. I wonder if dubs would consider those early catastrophes to be "Armageddons"?

    Great points....

I never did buy the idea that only Jehovah's Witnesses were going to be saved at the end of this system of things. It just doesn't seem right. I mean all of the people in the world aren't worthy, come on just ain't right?.

And to think that a baby dies and the only way it gets a resurection is if it's parents are doing their best in the truth? I tried to explain that one time to a non believer that had just lost their son at age five and it just doesn't fly.

The details in all religions just don't make sense. It is as if they are trying to make it fit some man made canned idea?

Maybe, I have never really been a JW?

I did a little experiment one time. I took a camera with me one day and went looking for 12 bad things to take a picture of. I carried that camera around all day and at the end of the day I did not have one picture of one bad thing, let alone 12.

The next day I took the same camera and went looking for 12 good things and I have a picture of a red sunrise, two cardinals at the feeder, a bus taking children to school, a delivery boy bringing me my newspaper, two orange vested school street crossing volunteers, two neighbors waved as I passed, two friends met me for coffee and then went to drive the meals on wheels truck. I saw police ready to help whoever calls, firemen who sleep by their trucks. I drove on paved roads with paved sidewalks joining mowed lawns. I saw 12 good things before I even got to town.

My world is very good. I almost never see anything bad and I never even know of any crimes or accidents if I didn't listen to or read the media. Even the media has difficulty finding bad things to report. Often they have to go out of state to find misfortune to report.

There is so much good news and it is so common that it is not even newsworthy.

    Just my point of view:-)

well here is how it looks to me.Globally, yes there are some awful things going on. But man has always warred with each other, however, now we have weapons of mass destruction. Plus we have the media to report it all to us. During 9-11 i thought i was going to die form media overload.

Ask a kid living in a crime ridden part of town if things are bad-u know it is. It's easy living in suburbary, or the country to miss crime. But it is still there. Just go into oak Cliff (a section of dallas) . it is not really safe to drive there in the day time- let alone night. Currently , live in a better part of dallas county, Much less visible crime here.A lot of people here in this area are heading north to get away form crime.

I think there are a lot of good people in this world. As a jw i was lead to believe they were all bad. not so. Many people are kind. but do people know each other ? My neighbors do not. I just know most by sight, some i have never even seen. Are there social classes and cliches in is world? For sure. Are there in jw? yes, but i can remember a time when it was not so bad. growing up, our cong. did mingle fairly freely among social classes. My neighobors don't invite each other over just b/c they live on the sme block. A lot of jw used to do that. If u were in the same cong-they used to read out ot each other.

i guess what i am trying to say-i don't find "worldy people" kinder or nicer than jw's. Many will judge u and hate u, and it is hard to find true friends anywhere. My church of christ neighbors are as unfriendly as any jw i ever saw. They do judge and they do shun. I used to think only jw did that-but no- people judge and shun-they just don't announce it formally.

Everybody has "bad" enter their lives at one time or another - sickness, crime, family troubles, etc. We also all experience the "good" - health, love, happiness, etc.

The good days usally outweigh the bad, however, the bad seems to effect us more, emotionally, over a longer period of time.

As for the world, I believe its much better than in previous years. Women have more respect worldwide, and its unacceptable on a world-basis for the mistreatment of women in other countries (eg. Afganistan). We have charities, social-support systems, religious freedoms, technology (who would want to live without their conviences?). Man has a conscience, so we are trying to balance the technology with environmental concerns. When we have a negative consequence to our actions, we work hard to repair/discontinue the damage. We are educated and expanding our knowledge. I'm very satisfied with humanity. I do not believe we are "evil" or misled by such.
