Hey Eman, hes pretty safe in Pyrmont cause its close to the water of the harbour, course, if he jumped in the harbour the sharks might be happy..... but seriously, a lot of suburbs would burn down before the fires consumed pyrmont.

Prisca, last night in chat, Barry mentioned the fires,,, I hope ya'll will be safe. It is such a shame how much the fires can take down with them, here in the USA, it happens often taking thousands of acreas of trees at a time. They say lightening is the main reason for the start of these fires.

Well, keep a look out and stay safe, and don't get too much smoke in your lovely eyes. Dede

the government is considering a change to laws to make throwing lit cigarette butts out of car windows, illegal in total fire ban conditions.

Where I Iive, there is a $900.00 fine for tossing butts. That, plus the cost of putting out the fire if one is started.

    Hope you don't choke, Prisca.

Mouthy, Randwick is another suburb close to the heart of Sydney; no risk of bushfire where your friend is. There was a little rain here in Wollongong last night, associated with the cold front which went through. Did you or Ozzie get any of it, Pris?

Hey Prisca, didn't you underdowners have the same problem last year? And wasn't it also due to deliberate fire-setting?

In any case, I hope things turn out okay and they get the fires under control soon.

    For the interested:

According to the news this morning the situation up in Sydney has deteriorated and the fires in the vicinity of Sydney haver doubled in size overnight. The Fire department spokesperson I heard commenting said the situation was "out of control" and there was "no hope of stopping the fire".

So we see what happens next .....

Jack 2, from what I recall most of the disastrous fires in Oz wind up being labelled "deliberately lit".
