Phew saved again! Thanks bigtex...
Brummie (handing the Job back)
I've loked the front door, got in the car and then wondered if I locked the front door, gone back, checked it, got back in the car, then wondered if I really check it right
It's usually around that point that I tell myself to "get a grip"! lol.
C'mon Simon...that's just regular brain-dead guy-gender stuff!
Craig (of the "bets I'll be the one that kills this thread" class)
My guess is that we've all got it! It's probably part of the human condition.
Now will I check this post.....again and again.....
Cheers, Ozzie
<------tags Ozzie for thread killing

<-----peeks in to see if anyone saved him from killing the thread again...sh*t they did!!!

My Mother's compulsion is her bed, IT HAS TO BE MADE IMMEDIATELY. She can't function if the bed isn't made. She's taken to sleeping on top of the cover, with a quilt over her as a blanket (Dad too) and that has to be folded or straightened right away.
My brother is a cleaner. All those punches and slaps I took from him growing up now make more sense. He's been caught on his hands and knees straightening the tassles on the rugs in his house.
I'm a hand washer. NOT ALWAYS, but at times in my life when I am stressed and seem to be out of control of my environment, I was my hands. Sometimes as much as four times an hour.
Because I've "gone back to check" sooooo many times - when I read the following, I thought it was cool. It really has helped me:
When you lock your door (or whatever) - concentrate on that one motion, really watch your hand - which uses your eyes.
Say outloud & expressively - "I am locking the front door." - which uses your speech.
Listen carefully and mentally agree "The door is locked." -which uses your ears.
By using three senses at once - it helps solidify the action in your brain so that your memory will take hold. This is for the everyday kinda forgetfullness, however.
I've found when I use the above method, my stupid return trips to where ever are cut down greatly. But then, I must remember to remind myself to use this system.
