The Judgment Day

"What are you going to do when you get judged before the Lord..."

Well, assuming this actually does happen and assuming this is "the Lord" of the Bible we're talking about here, I'm going to raise my hand as politely as I can and, if called on, ask as respectfully as I can:

"Lord, I know this is supposed to be about my sins and all and I'm not really trying to get around whatever I've got coming, but Lord, you know that lady in Texas, Andrea Yates, who drowned her five little innocent kids in the name of doing "the Lord's" will? Well, I was just wondering what you thought of that? Do you think she deserved the death penalty for that? And, if you don't mind me asking Lord, while we're on the subject of drowning little innocent children and such, I was just wondering exactly what your point was in drowning all those little guys back in Noah's day? Just in case you're gonna zap me into oblivion here in a few minutes Lord, I'd just kinda like to know before I go!"

    Clavinist02,

You are doing good in your apologetics and I am very glad to see you give your time in sharing to these former JWs who are lost and bitter torwards the Lord because of thier sin and bitter experience in a false religion such as the WT. I am thankfull for You, Sangdigger, and Sweedchief for giving your time.

    Keep diligent in your studies.

Just as a reminder though, Calvinism encomasses much more than the 5 points of calvinism. You can hold to the 5 points and still not be completly a Calvinist, as in the case of baptist who hold on to the 5 points. Baptists can only be counted as Calvinistic and not fully Calvinists

    blessings,

    clash_city_rockers,

    Thanks for your post.

I definitely know that following those Commandments are not required in order to get saved, but they are a result of the Holy Spirit dwelling in a Born Again Christian.

I don't think I explained that in my post above.

I was trying to say that the Commandments that Christians are supposed to follow are not the Rules and Regulations of the Old Law Covenant, but instead, we are supposed to love God and love our neighbor.

You cannot get saved by doing any good works, including getting Baptized in water, going to Church, going "out-in-service", participating in the Catholic "Mass", partaking of the Wine and Bread at the Lord's Evening Meal, etc.

Don't get me wrong, it is definitely a good thing to get Baptized, and to go to a Bible-Based Christ-Centered Church, and to partake of the Bread and Wine, and to preach to others about the Gospel -- I'm just saying that those things are not required to get saved.

Myohnseph, it sounds like youre comparing yourself to other people, perhaps to justify yourself in some way. This is a completely normal thing to do, looking at life outside the Gospel. Something we all do in one way or another. Point to others faults that seem much worse to somehow justify ourselves. Unfortanately, in Gods eyes, we are all condemned if left to stand on our own merit. "None is righteous, no not one". I'm counting on my attourney, the Lord Jesus, to stand up when i get called in before the judge, and say, he's with me, and the Father says "Not Guilty".

What you pointed out about the Ark, and those who perished simply shows who is in control of Salvation. Were it left up to me, i would be like those who drowned in the flood. But that story shows that God will have mercy on whom he will have mercy. The poor pitiful God of arminianism, a God who Loves everybody, and wants to save them but cant, is not the God of the Bible. He is the God who IMPUTES righteousness, not the God who looks for some kind of righteousness in his creatures. Rom.4:6 "Even as David describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works."

    Rom 5:1"Being JUSTIFIED by faith..."

    rebel,
    You said:
"why is the Bible so hard to understand? Why does it have so many things in symbols which everybody can interpret any way they like?"
If a person reads the Bible and sticks to it as their only authority, they will not be far off interpretation wise. Yes, Revelation is a hard book to understand, and I don't think there are any two people who agree completely on its interpretation. But, fortunately, the interpretation of Revelation has nothing to do with the fundamentals of the faith.
Here are five things clearly taught in the Bible:
    1) Jesus came to earth in the form of a man, died on the cross and shed His precious blood for sinners such as you and I.
    2) He was resurrected on the 3rd day, and some 40 days later ascended to heaven, having the preeminence over all things. He is now seated at the right hand of God the Father.
    3) Everyone is a loathsome sinner, deserving of hell. However, Jesus took that punishment for us - and whosoever repents and believes on His name shall not perish, but have eternal life. God's grace is greater than our sin!
    4) No one will seek God on their own - He must draw that person.
    5) By works, no one can attain salvation. Salvation is of the Lord - by grace only.
There are many doctrines in the Bible that are clearly stated. To say they can be interpreted in a number of ways is just not true.

    You said:

"I thought I had them once but now I find out I was duped by the WTBTS as well as the Catholic Church. There must be some answers somewhere."

Two big no-nos. You see Rebel, both of these organizations hold tradition as being of greater authority than the Bible. There are only a few churches that truly hold the Bible as the supreme authority. And you are absolutely right - there are answers. Just look into the Word of God.

Well, you've really got me figured out, Sangdigger! As Hannibal Lecter would say, "I am astounded by your acumen!"

http://www.cmfnow.com/ the late Greg Bahnsen, Ken Gentrey and friends... great pressupositial appologetics but just a little too reconstructionist.

http://www.reformed.org/ My home base to say... You'll find great bible teaching here from the likes of Cornelius Van Till, John Murray to John Frame and others..

http://www.gty.org/~phil/hall.htm Here is a good site with alot of puritan authers like John Owen, Charles Spurgon, Thomas Goodwen, and Robert Lewis Dabney even though it is run by dispensationalists (an evangelical error) they have good theology that corrects the site owners theology.

http://www.gpts.edu/ Greenville Pesbyeterian Theological Seminary great great teaching you'll love this site More theologically conservitive than that other school in greenville , SC (Bob Jones U.) but without the moralistic victorian pietiesm. Just good ol reformed biblical peity.

http://www.wtscal.edu/ Heres Westminster West headed up by Dr. Robert Godfrey who is a very good preacher and excellent Historian of the Church.. This is a good seminary but is unfortunatly plueged by the erroneus teaching of the framework hypothisis.

http://www.knoxseminary.org/ Here is another good semenary in Florida. Headed up by D. James Kenedy and has some great bible teachers like Robert Reymond and Fowler White.
