Lovedubs, I wouldn't know! Lol, I don't have any firstborns. But this one is special, I have had so much fun with friends, first with buying the ornaments, then the decorating. It is special.

Writes Armstrong, "Nimrod was so evil, it is said he married his own mother, whose name was Semiramis. After Nimrod's untimely death [other legends say it was at the hands of Shem! - ed], his so-called mother-wife, Semiramis, propagated the evil doctrine of the survival of Nimrod as a spirit being. She claimed a full-grown evergreen tree sprang overnight from a dead tree stump, which symbolized the springing forth unto new life of the dead Nimrod. On each anniversary of his birth, she claimed, Nimrod would visit the evergreen tree and leave gifts upon it. December 25th was the birthday of Nimrod. This is the real origin of the Christmas tree.

What a great tree! What's the purple ornament in the second picture? I can recognize the stars (very pretty), but not the purple one.
Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year (is that right?).

Cool tree Viv. I'm going to borrow a digital camera and post a photo of mine this weekend.
