Pleasuredome, There is a WT.article that says you can celebrate the Memorial on your own.I don't remember which one . Maybe someone else does and they can post the reference. It says anyone who can"t make the Memorial especially the Anointed can even celebrate it the next evening. If because of hardship or sickness there was an allowance for this provision. JOHN R. I have been associated with a number of ANOINTED ONES even drinking and eating with them and have seen them partake at the Memorial . Blueblades

What Ballistic said! The self-proclaimed anointed ones claim that "the Bible talks to them", especially the points about the heavenly hope. The earthly hope is supposed to feel foreign to such ones. Whatever.
I knew an "anointed" one who was a JW back in the 30's, was a faithful door-to-door minister, was an elder, and died in the late 1970's. He seemed to be the genuine article, if ever there was one.
Later in the 80's I met a lady who was baptized in 1968, and she claimed the anointing. Then her son did, but he was a little nutty. Then two others in the same hall (under his influence) also partook, before they all were DF'd or drifted away. The mom died in the early 90's.
Then there was this lady in another congregation, baptized perhaps in the 1970's, with emotional problems, etc. I was SHOCKED to see her drain half the wine glass one year.
So yeah I knew a few who CLAIMED to be anointed, but only one who seemed to be the real deal to me.

Last time I went to memorial (2 years ago to please family):
Them: "Oh we've missed you!"
Me: "Funny, you haven't called me for years"
Them: "Have you considered coming back?"
Me: "NO"
Them: "You know, its important to attend the meetings"
Me (disinterested): "really...." (yawning)
Them (getting a bit miffed) "Jehovah wants you to"
Me: (blank stare)
I was sickened by their JUDGEMENTS their PSEUDO LOVE and their robot-like CONFORMITY.
If you can cope with being totally patronised and judged then go. I will not give them that pleasure.

It seems odd to make a big production of just passing it around and not taking any.
John,
It's more than "odd", it's sacriligious, for they're making a ceremony of rejecting the body and blood of our Lord.

i've got it! i'm going to go on a long holiday to tennerife or somewhere else nice and warm.
carmel.....if you were refering to me being a hypocrit if i go to the memorial....then maybe i already am in that i've not DA'd myself. but then it really means nothing to me. the only significance it has, is to them.

From what I have personally experienced with my JW brother and also read here the JWs do a lot of rejecting. They make a big production out of not taking bread and wine. They shun and DF. They break up families. They tend not to associate with anyone outside of the hall. I knew it was bad but I must say I never realized just how bad it was.
This continues to be an eye opening experience
Thanks,
John
