It looks like they have drawn down their cash and investments by $14 million this year. Theyt still have $23 million in the bank, so they are not hurting, yet. But, at that burn rate, they should run out of cash in about 19 months.

In spite of the shortfall, they still sent $27 million to Brooklyn.

There's a lot that doesn't seem to add up, here. I can't help but get the feeling that something is missing - perhaps there are more corporations.

A comparison with the figures from the 1996 return (scans on the Watchtower Information Service site: http://www.watchtowerinformationservice.org/taxreturn.html) shows the following:

    Income 1996 $26,481,000

    Income 2000 $26,384,000

    Expenses 1996 $25,306,000

    Expenses 2000 $40,495,000

    Cash 1996 $30,822,000

    Cash 2000 $23,755,000

    Assets 1996 $103,311,000

    Assets 2000 $94,304,000

In other words, the $ reflect the publisher numbers over the past 6 years: a slow decline or stagnation.

The WTB&TS of Canada is just the umbrella organisation of course. In Canada, each congregation, circuit and assembly hall is usually it's own charity. Thus there are hundreds more WT entities.

Under the CCRA's new programme, all charities annual returns are available on the internet. So if you like you can look up the finances for your previous congregation by doing the following:

    1) Go to http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/tax/charities/online_listings/canreg_interim-e.html

    2) Click "search our online list of registered charities"

    3) In the name field type the name of your congregation (or "Jehovah's Witnesses" for a long list, or "circuit", or "assembly hall" if you wish to look up those.)

    4) Click in the T3010 column to get the 2000 annual return.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the US would impliment a similar law to open up the books here?

Of course, should that happen, 'new light' and 'simplification' would lead the 'brothers' to realize that Jehuber wanted their headquarters moved to some off-shore tax shelter country.

The track of the so-called "gifts" is interesting.

When I typed in Jehovah's Witnesses and Kingston, Ontario I got one of the 2 congregations in Kingston West - called the BAYRIDGE PARK CONGREGATION OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES. Now notice their supposed "gift" of 7,978 dollars to the WTS of Canada in Georgetown. Then Georgetown funnels the money up to the WTS in New York.

    Interesting.

Follow the money ..... follow the money.

Does anyone else but me notice that they don't make rental or mortgage money??? They only make their money from "Gifts" and "interest"!!!!!!

I thought it was people on this board who told me that the WTS's Country Bethel (in Canada's case - located at Georgetwon) holds the mortgages on the Kingdom Halls????

Is that true or NOT true.

People in Canada - fill me in????

    Why do I ask???

Well you can't call something a "gift" if it was actually used to pay back a loan on a building.
