I have difficulty remembering almost all of my childhood. The only parts that I do remember are the high school years that I spent with my friends. I only wish that I could say that I had a similar experience that you mentioned above Jes. But I can't.

Wow! What a story, thank you for sharing it. In years past, I've purchased gifts for a "tree angel" and reading your story really brought home to me what it must be like for some of those children. I'll look for the tree this weekend

Yours was the first post that I had read this morning, I have seen the angel trees in the past but were never really sure what they were there for. I am going to try to find one near me. Thanks for a great morning start.

It made me feel real good to write about it since it was something I had forgotten. I don't know how I could forget something like that, but I thank Freedom96 for the inspiration.

Jesika, thank you for posting this. This is something we all can do, and it doesn't cost alot and it means so much to a child who may not otherwise have xmas. Information about Angels are found in the malls, grocery stores, churches, etc. Christmas is about Giving, and giving to a child in need means so much. I not only think about the children in need, but I also can't help but think about adults in shelters, woman's shelters, etc and giving just a little of we have, even if it's a little of our time to help means so much. What a great thing it would be to bring our children, who receive great gifts from us, to be taken to volunteer for a couple hours or a day helping in a shelter for those less fortunate.

Im sorry I didnt seen this thread when you posted it.
It takes a special person who has been through such a hard life and turn it into such a meaningful one.
It is so important to give. We can make such a difference in someones life just as you are making a huge difference here by sharing your thoughts and experiences.
