Boosting Attendance or Hunting Apostates?

If a "Witness" can take "Parts" of blood and it takes gallons and gallons of the red stuff to break it down into those parts that witnesses can accept; Why then, is it unacceptable for a witness to make a donation to that river that they would freely partake of?

Sorry to make sense, but they don't.

You can be DF'd or DA'd for any reason. If it's not in print, they'll make it up as they go along. The elders only need to want to come after you. If it wasn't donating blood it would be something else. This is the main way they can keep control.

As for the apostates/inactive purge vs. meeting attendance. It's probably a little of both. You know how much of a control freak most higher ups are. Mix in the joy of intimidating people and you've got a winning JW combination.

Looks like I'll be getting a visit soon:(. Ran into one of the local Elder's last weekend. Aside from asking how everyone is he offered to study with me and mentioned that they(I assume here that he it means the Elders) would like to come visit us. I turned down the study and told him that this is a really busy time of year and that I'll get back to him on when would be a good time to come over. I had actually studied with this Elder awhile back but discontinued it and he is aware of my "misgivings". Going to try to put them off for awhile until I figure out how to handle this.:)

    Hi JH:

Talking about giving blood. For the first time at 40 years of age, I went to see a Doctor for a general check up. I passed urine test and blood test. The doctor wanted to see me and said that all was ok, but I had a too high level of red blood cells. He suggested that I give blood once every 3 months. He said it would do me good. Not being DF'd, and just wanting to avoid trouble with the elders, I wondered if a witness can have blood taken out and thrown away. Like that no blood is donated. Would that be a reason for Disfellowshipping?

Actually there is a medical condition called hemochromatosis which results in an elevated level of red blood cells. Over time it can be very harmful, due to the build up of iron deposits in the liver, which would result in a type of cirrhosis. The treatment is very simple: you have a unit of blood drawn and discarded on a regular basis. When I did my nurses' training, I did a rotation in an outpatient clinic where these kinds of treatments occurred (among other things).

I seriously doubt that a JW would be DFd for going through with this procedure, particularly if the individual had this condition because it would disqualify them as a candidate for donating blood for the purpose of transfusions.

Just to be on the safe side, maybe you need to talk to your doctor about doing some further tests to rule out this condition.

    Love, Scully RN
