musky, you have to be careful where you sit. I like to sit in the front, way to the right or left side. Very few sit there, the speaker can't really see you, and it is difficult for an elder to stroll into eye view during the talk or WT study without being extremely conspicuous to all in the congregation.

I would have told him that I was checking back on a previous point to review or on a point coming up to refresh my memory to make sure my possible comment did not cover that material.

If that didn't work, I would have reminded him that he was not my father or husband and had no God-given right to chastise me for such a thing.

Thanks, JeffT. I have been trying to use that site for various Bible translations.

Rebel, you might look there too, because there is no one translation that is perfect or close. It is possible to look at 10 or more at the same time. Many times you see that all 10 have the same idea or one might add a little color to the verse.

Many thanks again blondie, you made this morning's meeting tolerable! One of the sisters in my congregation today made the comment "Many people in the world are what's known as 'fair-weather friends' who let you down when you're in need, we know in the truth that we have real friends in the congregation that will stick by you no matter what happens" ...my chin is still on the floor right now!

Good for her, Matty, good for her! I'm sure she is speaking from personal experience. Everybody else probably got a little embarrassed, then applied it to someone else, never seeing it in themselves. Maybe you can commend her later for saying that.

Kudos blondie; thanks for the hard work, i know that it isn't easy for you to type.
Thanks again for putting voice to the retorts rolling around inside my head!

Hi Pistoff. Some keyboarding is actually good. Next week's issue does not bring up the UN, alternative service, and voting issues, so I will. The interesting negotiation of the WTS with the Bulgarian government over the blood issue should figure in. It is incredible how the WTS violates Jesus command to be "no part of the world" when they do it all the time.

Late again , but yesterdays study deserves some comment :-

Page 10, do they need to put a guilt trip on every kid there to put some pocket money in the contribution box?

Para 3. The dismissive attitude toward "Worldy families, as scenes of spousal violence, parental abuse and neglect ,drugs and immorality" - as if all of them are like that !

I have always hated trumpet blowing articles.Do they really think they are the only ones who pick up litter?

Scully. I am sorry to be reminded that you're average loving elder is no better over there than he is over here

2 bulleyes with those comments, Bluesbrother. There were so many self-serving statements. I personally know of 5 separations, 2 divorces, 3 marriages in name only in only due to spousal abuse in one congregation alone.
