  This is what i would do. When you are between getting your cab...I would first start by making business cards. You can make them real easy on your computer for next to nothing (doesn't have to be fancy) I would print off some maps of the main touristy areas.I would staple a card to the map.

  When you are driving the cab I would give each passenger a map with the card. I would be very polite (your greeting is very important...don't worry about sounding geeky....people love politness...Hello Mis ....sir...you know) If they are quiet ...you be quiet..If they seem chatty....chat back...but stop if they do...follow their lead(You get where you can read people) When you stop to let them off...tell them " "have a good evening, day" whatever.. and say" when you need a ride again just ask for me" ...the name is on the card.

  You will get where you know las vegas like the back of your hand(about one year) You will be able tell people the best places to eat...hotels...entertainment on and on...You will eventually build your cliental by giving out the cards and MOST important...being POLITE...an almost lost art.

  Trust me I did this for three years and I'm so glad I got through the first 6 months...because after that ...it just gets easier and easier and the tips get bigger and bigger.

  E-mail me if you want...I could tell you some of the stupidest things I did and for about the first 4 months how everyday i just wanted to quit.

  Tomorrow if I don't get a shift, it will be the fourth day in a row that I don't work. If I don't work tomorrow then...

  Hey Gill, that jobs no good for you. But dont jack it in until you have something else: THINK POSITIVE: You have the IDEAL job to have as a sideline while you find a real 9 - 5 job. Just try to remember that things always pan out in the end, try not to be so hard on yourself. You can always drop me an email if you like - I went through very hard times in my mid twenties as an ex-jw and six years later am not just viable but moving on up.

  BTW, I know of a job that you might be interested in pursuing that is easy, fun (it was for me, sort of), and doesn't require a college degree. It pays very well.

  Nope, not Amway. It is in the construction trades but many independent contractors do it. It is semi-skilled but doesn't take long to get the hang of it (like a week to 2 weeks). I won't bore you with it if you don't really care but if you want me to fill you in, just e-mail me.

  Not trying to play a guessing game just don't want to go into a long discussion.

  I feel for you and your situation. However, I do believe in the power of positive thinking. You must speak into existance what you actually want. Most of the comments you made were negative. If you want a new job, speak it into existance. You want to do better at your current job? Then tell yourself that.

  I would recommend several books, one for starters is "How to Win Friends and Influence People"

  It is a best seller, and it may help you look at things from a new perspective.

  If I recall correctly, you are in Vegas right? If so, I have talked to several people there, and they say that there is tons of employment, and that the employers just want someone to come to work sober, and to work. Plus, if you work for a casino, most have a program where you can eat for free. A friend of mine did this, and there is a great buffett downstairs for the employees. You can eat there at anytime, even when you are not on the clock. There is another way to save money, and not go hungry.

  Ballistic, yeah I think that a 9-5 job should work for me. I did take an nine month course in accounting. I tried looking for an accounting job when I arrived in Vegas. I even went to a place that finds works for accountant, but it went nowhere.

  Marcos, sure e-mail me about that. Considering that I haven't found a job yet that I like I probably won't like it, but it is worth a look.

  freedom96, I have read "How to Win Friends and Influence People", but it did me no good. My problem is that I don't know exactly what I want to do.

  freedom96, who are the people you have talked to in Vegas. It seems that it was impossible for me to get job. In my opinion it is very hard to get a job in Vegas. I sent in resume after resume for a month before I got this job. There are tons of job in Vegas? Please tell me where they? And forget the casinos. I sent in many job applications and never got a reply.

  There are no f***ing jobs in Las Vegas. Nothing!
