Is anyone old enough to remember the Van Ikes? (Not sure of spelling, but I'll never forget her for humiliating my sister in service.) Mulan, they may have served in your area in the 60's.

Among other things, Sister Van Ike insisted on being in front at any buffet food event. As the CO's wife, she claimed the privilege of getting first pick of all the dishes offered.

She was quite a piece of work!

    Rosemary Kraushaar!

I remember them! They were in my aunt and uncle's circuit. I had the unfortunate experience of eating dinner with them at my aunt and uncle's house. We were visiting for winter break. This was about 1979 or 1980. My cousin was two or three at the time. We were in the midst of teaching her that we don't celebrate Christmas and that "Christmas is baaaad!". In the middle of dinner, while the adults were talking, she starts singing "Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!" to the tune of Frre Jacques. My brother and I both looked across at each other mortified! My brother, sitting next to my cousin, quickly started singing in a low voice to her "Where is Bumpkin? Where is Bumpkin?" and my cousin started following along with those lyrics instead. After the guests had departed, my brother and I found out that nobody else at the table had heard my cousin singing Merry Christmas. Apparently the Kraushaars didn't either.

I did feel real sorry for the daughter though. She seemed to be a very quiet teenager, and very lonely.

Lets see evil C.O.'s Wives Mary Jo Sheun, ( I recently was going through some stuff and found a letter she had to wrote to me when I was 19, I had given her a gift certificate to a clothing store and she thanked me and told me she hoped I would regular pioneer and marry a curcuit overseer) She told my parents I was not a good example to others since I wasn't a regular pioneer and they needed to work on me more. Sister Casino, and that is about all. When I was little we had the same curcuit overseer for like 10 years before they did the rotation thing. Bro. and Sis. Jones they were a older couple and were wonderful people she loved me we always worked in service together. She even made me a owl to hang in my room. I was really sad when they retired they were the only curcuit overseer to take an interest in the children.

I remember a CO and his wife that I hated!

His name was Eric Rosavere and we all called him Eric Sosevere. He was nasty and short tempered.

His wife wasnt much better. I hated working with her out in the field. she got me pulled up in front of the elders because I "apprently" said that a single brother was my "pioneer partner".

Hey we only had 3 pioneers in the congregation and the only other female did all her witnessing by herself.

Ones that I will never forget for being the most caring and understanding is Conrad and Julie Mack. they were lovely!!!!!!!! conrad died a few years ago of a masive heartache. I was so upset.

Nelly who is Mac the Knife?? Not Wally Huston?? He cleaned up a few congs in my area at one time...Gisborne and east coast area. But his wife didn't have a speach impediment, although she was very very ill most of the time. The CO who's wife had a lisp was Bro Carter.....wife's name was Eunice....she was rather nice from what I remember....I don't recall her being overly fastidious...but she only stayed with us once. I haven't heard of him having any heart attacks mind you, so maybe I have my wires crossed....did you know Sandy Panel?? What a wanker he was/is....he ask my ex for permission to use 'our' sad experience at an assembly....of course my ex gave him his permission....but he didn't ask for mine damn it....my mother, sister and brother and kids had to listen to that talk...geez he shits me.

    Well what an interesting thread.

When I was in the troof we had a CO called Don Freeman. I forget his wifes name, it might have been Dale. Anyway, there was always murmuring when they came to visit because they nearly ALWAYS stayed at the Osbournes house. The Osbournes had no children, were fabulously good looking, fabulously wealthy, fabulously suntanned and had the spa, the sauna, the works. There were murmurings about the CO having a liking for the "showy display of ones means of support".

I think he died of a heart attack.

I knew the Macks too. Lovely couple, especially Conrad, and I was saddened by his death. He was one of the few COs I've ever met that genuinely cared about his bros and sisters. He could be very forthright too, and this turned some against him.

Kelpie, I never met the Rosaveres, but my sister thinks the world of them. They tried to help out in a family situation, going beyond the call of duty.

Hey Prisca, you would make a goodfCOs wife.

Those very black , very glinty eyes of yours seeing everything.

That very pointy nose for prying into other peoples business and sniffing out sinfullness.

Those perfectly even, perfectly white, extremely tiny sharp teeth of yours all the better for chopping out utterances of judgement upon the weak ones of the flock.

    Yes indeed. (Lol sis)
