What Double Standards Do JW's Practice?

I think this is rapidly transcending mere technical points about hypocrisy.

Double standards are advancing into the realm of "double lives". Young Witnesses
have led the way with complete separate lives at school - drugs, sex, you name it.

Older Witnesses are following with "unrated movies", internet porn, blood transfusions
as needed in secret, alcoholism, addictive drug use, divorce, and so on.

The glorious moment comes when a collective awakening takes place - like the unveiling
of the Wizard of OZ - and numerous Witnesses realize their spiritual paradise
is a disguised garden of weeds.

This will be the ultimate outcome of exposure.

    Keep up the good work.

Here's an interesting question based on Mary's comment: If you are accused of fornication or adultery by the person you supposedly committed it with, but you deny that it happened do the elders proceed with a judicial case against you even though there is only the 1 witness. Obviously in the case of pedophiles they do not.

Any ex elders here come across this? What was done under the the WTS rules of action?

You're supposed to rip the transfusion needle out of your arm but you can sit down and enjoy a nice bloody, rare steak.

One of my siblings is a Witness, she is very pretty and acts very sweet, but she preaches, preaches, preaches and I see her celebrating Thanksgiving, she is engaged to a 'worldly' man(for a number of years), her fiancee tells my husband about how great their sex life is(who tells him he dosen't want to hear about it)and then talks about me behind my back! Whew!! Thanx for lettin' me vent! NK

I was thinking along the same lines as Fire Dragon - you try to get people to take JW literature and 'be open-minded' and read it - but we can't read any other literature. I was 'told off' for reading a history book once - it wasn't religious or anti-witness or anything but was all about Ancient Egypt and their customs - I like history. An elder came by after the ministry one Saturday and made a sarcastic comment when he saw it on my shelf. When I defended myself, he said I could find out all I wanted to know about Egypt from the society's books.

If everyone has to be open-minded enough to read JW literature, then JWs should read theirs also.

    Vent all you want!

You are confirming exactly what I perceive as an ex-elder. Behind the facade, it's all decaying.

The Society wants numbers, numbers! And they're getting numbers that mean less with every passing year.

You read examples in almost every WT publication about how "love" motivates JWs to help, encourage and support one another through various crises. When it happens to you, unless you're a study progressing toward baptism (and therefore a subject of 'love-bombing') or an elder/ pioneer/ ministerial servant/ or one of their family members, you are up Sh!ts Creek without a paddle. As a matter of fact, if something bad happens to you, you are blamed for somehow being at the root of the problem anyway. You get told that the solution to the problem is to go out in service, attend all the meetings and pray more.

Also, the way JWs brag about how they are the MOST honest people on the planet. Yet they espouse the doctrine of Theocratic War Strategy, which allows them to only be truthful with those who "deserve" honesty.

Those are the two biggest examples of hypocrisy, IMO.

Where do I start: As a woman you are supposed to be intelligent enough to have found the "truth" but once there if you are you are concidered a pain in the rear if your intelligent enough to not be force fed everything they say.

If your husband is suicidal (from the pain of being raised by two monsters) you can't get him help because that's frowned on but they will be happy to give a nice eulogy once he kills himself

If your husband who has been beyond reproach is injured (no fault of his own/drunk driver smash pow) they will not visit call or send a card but when you ask them why the lack of love the will site the one time you didn't send a card to the person you didn't know hmmmm ( and I was speaking to an elder) HMMMM

When they do shepard you after a wreck and you tell them your not attending meetings they will say oh, we understand come anyway sit stand whatever just be there then when you do you will be admonished for causing a disruption for sitting awhile, standing hmmm

When your children decide this religion is BS and decide to participate in OHMYGOD Sports you will be shunned by the elders and members that have children that are pregnant, had abortions, drink and sleep with everything in sight but BY GOLLY they don't PLAY SOCCER

When your husband is told by and elder to "take her home and beat her" and you take him aside and tell him how horrible his comment is YOU are the one that is not abiding by Jehovah's will ..OF COURSE

    Hmmmm venting is soooooooooooooo nice

One more in detail: You are supposed to love your brother but my brother in law who has cerebral palsy/brain tumour and bi polar disorder abides by all their doctrine crap. They will not put in a phone hook up so he can hear the meetings, they haven't been to visit him in OVER 10 years and when he was involved in a real estate problem with a ministerial servant that was sooooo dishonest and trying to screw him. He and his wife were the ones threatened with disfellowshipping if they took this crook to court NICE arent they
