When Is A Viking Not A Viking?

    When he's a Norseman, that's when.

According to my dictionary, the Norsemen came from Norway, the Vikings from Denmark and Abba hailed from Sweden. Although it is acceptable to use the word "Viking" to describe a Norseman now, this is not the original definition.

I hope that fuzzy Norseman Kent is having a good time in the Canaries.

    Happy Christmas to the Norsemen.

How about when he plays for the NFL (American) football team, the MINNESOTA VIKINGS?

See this site (if even just to look at the cheerleaders): www.vikings.com

A Viking is not a Viking when he forgets his prime directive.

The directive- When invading the coastal towns of Europe, put big hickeys on all the fair maidens.

Outoftheorg. Of the my ancestors were Vikings class.

I hope we make Cris Carter cry....(sorry Englishman, I had to steal this thread for a little bit)

Back on Topic: Actually I just went to the Science Museum here in Minnesota and they had an exhibit about vikings. Apparently people from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark are all consider Vikings...at least that's what the "experts" said.

You are correct Joanna. All of those you mentioned are from the Viking heritage. My father was from Norway and quite proud of his Viking ancestors.

He never mentioned the big hickey thing though. I learned of that later.

I also love history and when I was a kid vikings were a favorite adventure game. Does anyone remember a viking film w/William Shatner in it? It was cheesy as heel, but a childhood fave..I just can't remember the name of it! For your reading pleasure also.....
