For years I started a conversation with......I am __XXX_____ and I am a salesman for__XXX____!!

After being fired from a couple of jobs and while being unemployed I realized that I am much more than just a career person....many people get caught up in this.....many when they first meet you will ask, "what do you do" ?????

I think all of us are much more than just a working stiff.

What you do for a living doesn't define who you are.....??

Just woke up this morning thinking about this......again!!!

Breeze, if I started burrowing in the mud and eating earth worms, do you not think that would at least partially define who I am?

Ballistic.....If you wish to buy that nonsense then you are a narrow person indeed....??

So you think anyone who digs through garbage is beneath you....??

Edited in: You might be surprised to see a mensa person working as a garbage man???

I had an interesting experience a few years back..made me think. I was responsible for running a domestic violence shelter for many years. A young teenage girl was there with her mom. My supervisor came to do an inspection of the building. This young girl stopped me and asked who that was. I told her she was the director of human services and my boss. She looked at me funny and said I didn't ask you what she did I asked you who she was??? She then said older people just can't get by without always telling each other what they did for a living. She also told me...man I wonder if any of you really know each other!!! Wise young women. Now when someone asks me that question I tell them about who the person is, not the job title. That always seems to start an interesting conversation, or they just walk away.

You can be proud of your job, but in a n instant it can be taken away.....even if it's a thriving business that you own...SEEN IT...
