Sure Simon, the extremes are easy it is where they meet in the middle that is more difficult.

Islam has rights but they don't get to kill people who don't agree with them or even make fun of them. . THAT is the line.

Think how SNL, South park, and a host of comedians ( Carlin)  have made fun of religion. Tim Minchin comes to mind.

Criticizing and mocking ideologies and ideological founders and leaders is not hate speech.

There is nothing wrong with mocking ideas, opinion or belief.

People have a right to beliefs, ideas and opinions.

People DO NOT have a right to not be offended.

Ironic as it is Islam gets mocked mostly for its violence against anyone who mocks or who holds a different religious belief separate from their own faith.

In certain parts of the world where Islamic fundamentalist exist, they kill people who express any apostasy or blasphemous against the teachings or writings within the Quran, a book written 1400 years ago.

Just like the ancient Hebrews did 3000 years ago.  .... ummmm ???

How's that for the advancement of humanity ?

So again how do they handle this mocking  ?

    They kill more people.

Insisting on having it's own way and being sole authority over all, intolerant of all who object.

I think countries have the power to shut down religions that pose a threat to the protection of its inherent citizens who are incompliance to those laws of the land.

If a government were to ban Islam, do you really think these extremist animals would just pack up and work 9-5 in a cubicle somewhere?  If anything, it would probably fan the flames of their persecution complex and need for vengeance.  A lot of them are trained and belong to terror cells in Muslim countries anyway.  I would suspect if they are not raised this way, more are radicalized on the internet than in a mosque.

There isn't an easy answer to terrorism, and realistically such a barbaric attack probably does chill free speech to some extent, as some have observed.  Hopefully the resolve of the French people and free societies everywhere won't allow that to happen.  But I can't imagine that outlawing a religion, the majority of whose adherents are not terrorists, would have any deterrent effect.
