Yep, I was hit by the Powerball fever. I'm talking about the Powerball lottery for those not in the 25 states participating. I bought my tickets today and the numbers will be called tomorrow night. The amount is up to 285 million dollars. If Santa arranges for me to win, I promise to be a good girl the rest of my life.
Last week, I bought 10 tickets. I did not get the Powerball # (the red ball). BUT, on one of my tickets, I got ONE # right and one # was off by four digits and the other three numbers were off by 1 digit each.
Sigh... So close to being a multi-millionaire and even closer to winning a 100 grand.
I intentionally did not buy a ticket this time because I'm tired of winning every year.
It is interesting to me that thenews shows stress the extreme odds against winning - YES, it is remote, but isn't it also true that anyone who does not buy a ticket is 100% certain of NOT winning. As long as a person doesn't go nuts and play the rent money, I consider it a voluntary tax. Some might call it a stupidity tax, but I think of it as a fanatasy tax For a couple of bucks you have the right to imagine what you'd do if you won. ...and SOMEBODY will win. In the past that's been me so many many times I'm tired of it, so this year I'm gonna let it be YOU.
