So true, Realist. And the WT hops on the bandwagon, distributing the message of fear. Also, these panic-messages reinforce their hope for an early Armageddon. Hence, their addiction to pseudo-science. (The Evils of Aluminum comes to mind.) Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me the society attracts more converts by repellance "The World is going to Hell, join us quick." rather than attraction "Come to Me, you who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest".

Yep, and you forgot 1940 when good old booze Rutheford predicted the big A 'within a few short months'. I guess that one could still be true - lets see, 12 months to a year, 62 years since then, that makes .... <clickty clack> 744 'short months'. Yep, boozey may have been right on that one!

You must not be keeping up with the new light. The few months that Rutheford was speaking of was not those that consist of a fixed period time of 28 to 31 days. These months refer to an unspecific period of time where wicked minkind would not change their wicked ways in these last days.

Yep, boozey was right on... now how to prove that millions then living did not really ever die.

    jgnat,

exactly...people read the news and get scared...and then the WT comes along with a seemingly simple answer to all the problems + the hope for eternal live. this is obviously a good recipe to get new members.

funny that the same strategy works for thousands of years now!

    Good points, everyone.

The WTS refuses to accept, say evolution as a FACT and since all of their arguments against it have been torn to shreds countless times, they resort to this classic red-herring: "God is the God of "True Science(tm)." This of course, immediately leads to problems for anyone with half-a-brain.

I'll create a little syllogism out of what the Watchtower says on the matter, and then we will see if the evidence supports the conclusion.

WTS: "God is the God of True Science(tm)"

WTS: "Only we speak for God."

Therefore we can conclude this: "Therefore, only we speak True Science," or perhaps "Therefore, we speak True Science(tm)"

Extraordinary claims like this require extraordinary evidence, but the overwhelming evidence is that when it comes to even basic science, the WTS is clueless.

Here are a few examples: talking snakes, talking donkeys, worldwide flood, all animal (including dinosaurs) and plant life is only at most 48,000 years old, organ transplants are cannibalism, the heart is an emotional organ, vaccines are filthy animal puss, the Radio Biola is a marvel of science, lions used to eat straw, and so did misquitos and crocodiles, a person who has blood transfused in his or her body takes on the personality of the donar, a black man learned the truth through the Watchtower and his skin turned white as a result, God made the earth stop rotating for a full day, and clothes purchased at garage sales have invisible bad-guys in them.

    True Science(tm)? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

They're nothing more than a bunch of self-serving, self-worshiping idiots running around and trying to figure out how to stop all the fires they themselves have started, and how to then blame others for those very fires.

I have been only 3 times to the Book of Isaiah Volume 1 and 2 because I just couldn't stand the bullshits of the WT!!! The third was yesterday...

Same old story: 1914, 1919, 1931, 1935, they just keep telling the same old thing. It doesn't matter what book of the Bible they are trying to explain it end up with that same story...

Jesus didn't have anything better to do and pick up a banch of false prophets located in USA and make them He's ambasadors on earth!!!

Ah, the book study! How well I remember all of those tacky living rooms and basements...

My daughter has made a choice to not be a JW and was never baptized. Did I mention that my daughter is fundamentally intellectually superior? Her daughter, my beautiful granddaughter, has never been inside a Kingdom Hall.

Last summer, my granddaughter went to the other side of the USA to visit her relatives, including her JW grandfather, my ex. My daughter instructed her dad that my granddaughter was not to go to the Kingdom Hall at any time. So he took the dear child to the book study at his cousin's home.

My granddaughter's summary of the whole experience: "They're insane!" Another brilliant child coming up!

    Tyler,

It was something the WT taught back in the early 1900's.
