I agree with what Sir 82 is saying. If legally required to pay compensation to child abuse victims they WILL " drag their heals " until the last of their court appeals has been used up. It's WHO they are and HOW they operate as the " criminal organization " that they are - the WT Society. As Punk of Nice stated they are a " selfish " or " self serving " organization. And that attitude permeates from the top of the organization all the way down to the least valued JW member

    Good bump Smiddy.

It's not likely that it's something they would volunteer to do.

It will be interesting to see the details of the redress scheme particularly because they consider all JWs to be ministers unlike other religions. Guess they will just duck and dive about that definition.

Jehovahs witnesses refuse to advertise their Congregation meetings in newspapers either national or local regional newspapers along with Christendoms Religions because they view them as Apostate/ False religions who they will have no fellowship with.

Will Jehovahs Witnesses join with other religions in compensation payouts ? I dont think so .

With the new directive from the Australian Govt. It will be interesting how the GB responds

The victims will need to apply for the compensation. It will be interesting to see what the GB print in the Watchtower to discourage JW victims from applying when it becomes an option for them.

Has this compensation scheme gone live now? How would a person go about applying for compensation?

Slightly off topic but on the point of wtbts aligning themselves with other religious organisations , i recollect that they printed and published bibles for thailand bible society /American bible society which were not donated but transacted under normal buying and selling rules.....they also sit with other religious organisations regarding world religious freedoms... Therefore they will align with 'babylon the great' when it suits their own aims .... hypocritical charlatans !!

The compensation scheme will be set up by the Australian government.

The victim applies to the scheme for compensation.

The scheme assesses and pays compensation if warranted up to $150,000.

The government can either bill the religious institution for the full amount or require the religion to pay into the scheme according to how many known victims or ordained ministers and/or volunteers the religion has on its books. Watchtower and the JWs hold the record in Australia in pretty much every category.

The federal Government will not be able to force organisations and states to sign up to the redress scheme. The opt-in program will be managed by the Commonwealth but funded by churches charities and state Governments which voluntarily join the scheme.

Some states and territories in Australia refuse to sign up to this scheme ,The northern Territory ,The Australian Capital Territory ,and south Australia ,with Western Australia being undecided as to how they will go.

For those who do not know, we have, in Australia, NSW, Vict, SA ,Tas, WA, NT,and the ACT and Qld.

Well then, it will be up to us to let the world know what the WBTS refuses to pay.
