Reminds me of Jim Bakker's damage control attemps before his great FALL in 1987.
The Charlotte Observer Newspaper was Jim Bakker's "Dateline" in those years. They were digging up the "dirt" on Jim and he was denying it as fast as the Observer printed it. Guess who was telling the truth!?!

The "troof", if it is the Truth, shouldn't mind being exposed. It is notable that they use reverse psychology on the "opposers" to try to prove that they have God on "their side" and that the exposers are the ones demonized.
