I know that was just a joke but....
Here we go with the old oil routine again. Guess what. You're absolutely right. Oil is a very major factor in this conflict and rightly so. The issue of Saddam's regime creating and possessing weapons of mass destruction is the main priority, but oil does indeed come in at a close second.
On another thread someone told about a discussion with a Witness who complained about all the excess spending during the holidays. The response was to think of the benefit to our economy, a point lost on the dub. The importance of Middle Eastern oil seems to be a point lost on those who object to a war with Iraq, saying "it's just about oil". So think about it in those terms. Just what do you think would happen to our economy if we didn't use force over there when necessary? If we just left Iraq and the rest of the Middle East alone, pretty soon you'd be paying $5 a gallon to fill up that precious SUV. I don't want that and neither do you, and it's not selfish to feel that way. Think of what would happen to our economy.
Someday we won't need gasoline for our cars or petroleum for anything. When that happens we can tell Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the Middle East to shove their oil and go to hell. That time has not come yet therefore we are going to have to continue to do what is necessary to protect our economic interests over there.
