After 16 beautiful days off with my children, sleeping in late, actually making family breakfest and all the other wonderfully "mommy" things to do without rushing - I'm back at work (bluck!!!!) and the kids are back to school so the rushing begins again.

Regardless of how people feel about Christmas, I find that 2 week period of time my highlight of the entire year. Although busy - the busy is concentrated around "loved ones" and the bonding that comes with that is so precious to me.

So, its off to another year and I'm sure it will be great - but today SUCKS!!!!! :)

How's all your New Years going?

Pettygrudger, I have been off since December 13 and returned to work today. It's OK to be back, but beware, that means I have to start thinking again - lol

Aww Petty...I know what you mean. My kids have been home since Dec 21 and this is their last day of freedom. But we had a wonderful holiday together, and I never heard
"Im bored!" which is an amazing thing with a 7 year old, 11 and 14 year olds. Apparently they got what they wanted for Xmas and were occupied sufficiently. The weather has been decent down here in S. Fla and we had a nice time together. They go back to school tomorrow, but Im gonna have to adjust to them not being here. I would get FLOGGED for thinking that way at the bus stop tomorrow from the other bedraggled mommies, stuffing their kids back on the Yellow Submarine. :) They arent in our homes for a very long time, when you think about it. My 14 year old is already talking about cars, jobs, college...and I look at him, he being already over 6 foot, and say WHEN did you get so damn OLD?? :)

Have heart. Time will pass quickly and they will be home on Spring break already and then summer. I measure my weeks by karate classes, jazz dance and basketball practice and they just FLY by.

What a good mommie you are :) I wish MINE had wanted me around as a kid!

    That is so great.

I hope the tradition continues for years to come.

My older 2 kids are with their dad half the time. Every single day I get them is a school day, well, a week day. So I absolutely treasure every vacation, holiday, snowday! I am right there with you, Pettygrudger! I love the absense of all the rush! It's one of the reasons i keep considering homeschooling.

Wow, not having to hear "I'm bored." That is pretty cool.

Hubby and I were handed a wonderful Christmas gift. We were planning to move up to Colorado, out in the country come spring, but on the morning of the 26th everything changed (for the positive) and we are leaving this place the end of January. So we've been busy, busy, busy. On top of all that, my son and his family (including his dad, and our daughter-in-laws' dad) came up here Christmas Eve. We all had a wonderful time.

Since my son and his family will be following us to Colorado when school is out, my plan is to be one of those grandma's that help babysit, teach, and just have fun with the grandchildren....damn, they grow up so fast. I can't imagine a happier, fuller life then being able to watch and listen to the kids talk about their daily activities in school - and those extra cirrucular activities never allowed us when growing up JW. Needless to say we all have a sense of being extremely blessed.

We teach our grandchildren about Magik. I'm extremely excited over the prospect of our grandchildren getting in touch with Mother Nature. City life is just no way to raise children - or so is my opinion.

I love ya all........onto a new adventure for many of us.

I'm with you, pettygrudger. Here I am at work thinking that the next paid holiday is in MAY, damn it! Like you, I really enjoyed the two weeks of time with the children and husband, and our Dallas weather was WONDERFUL! Yesterday it was brilliantly sunny and about 68 degrees. I played soccer in the backyard with our 6-year-old son and 6-month-old basset hound. Jackson (the kid) and I were laughing so hard at times we couldn't kick the ball. Ladybug (the basset) would chase the ball, her hindquarters bouncing like a rabbit, and leap on it before we could get there, trying really hard to pick up the ball in her jaws. Such fun!

    Have a happy new year!

    Nina
