  Ok we all say stupid things (probably on a daily basis in my case) but my mother (a JW) was told by another member that she doesn't have a conscience because anyone who smiles as much as she does simply can't have a conscience.

  I bet you can guess the person who said it to her has a face like a wet weekend.

  I guess the reasoning is: if you had a conscience you wouldn't have much to smile about because you'd be overwhelmed with guilt and worry. What a load of old bollox that cult is eh?

  Yeah I was amused and annoyed at the same time.

  She gets loads of sh!t off them all the time because she wouldn't say boo to a goose and she's manipulated into feeling she has to shut up and put up or make the 2 J's sad and angry.

  That's a new one on me. Whatever happened to the JW mantra of "Jehovah's happy people?"

  When I was going if you weren't consistently all happy-happy joy-joy you were from Satan.

  That person is probably just jealous your mom is happy and she is not. Your mother should quote the scripture that says Jehovah is a happy God and the one that says "happy are the ones doing the will of Jehovah". She should say that if she is not joyful it would mean she isn't being blessed by Jehovah. The best defence is a good offence.

  There are people like that wherever you go, but the JWs do seem to attract more than their fair share of them. I call them fun sponges, they soak up all the fun wherever they go.

  Isn`t their a scripture somewhere that say`s" imitate those taking the lead among you" ?

  These two Elders were pathetic in the Royal Commission , absolute morons .

  Driving Force

  Something I use to do was quote the text " imitate those taking the lead among you", and then point out to whoever I was talking to that this does not necessarily mean the elders.
