How hard are the elders going to try?

As we have all seen, the elders seem to be finding all the inactive, and trying to make us make a choice. We are either for or against the WTS, and they want us to tell them so they know what to do with us.

The question I have is, how hard are they trying to find us? Will it be a simple phone call on the card that was in file? How about a visit to the last known address? Will they contact family or friends for whereabouts? If one tries hard enough, almost anyone can ultimately be found. But just to what extent are the elders going to take it?

For me, though I live in the general area, pass the hall everyday, I have moved several times, new phone numbers, and I don't think most there know where I work. It was not like I was a well known person in the hall. Never really did connect with too many there. The elders would remember me, but that is probably about it. I attended that hall for about 2 years hitting 2/3rds of the meetings. Not that anyone really cared. Kept to myself, didn't participate in too much. Had this been a hall that I was active in, then I could imagine it would be a bit different.

    What are your thoughts?

I don't think they will try very hard at all. They aren't going to go the trouble of trying to find out where every person is that would take way too much effort and when have you seen the elders really give forth that much effort?

In my experience, they won't give a rat's ass about you unless you're in their territory.

Even then, my guess would be they won't care unless you used to go to their congregation, or someone from your old congregation calls them about you.

But, they don't tell me about such things any more, so really I'm just blowing smoke here.

They won't give a rat's ass depending on who you are and how well they know you. If you're a sister with an "unbelieving husband", then hell will freeze over before they waddle out to see if you're dead or alive. Now if you're a person with a penis, then the odds increase of an elder visit since they believe God loves penis people more than non-penis people. In fact, the odds increase in direct proportion to how big you used to be in the organization. They're not going to call on everyone.

Well they have not tried to hard to find me. Should I be insulted or happy? They never noticed when I was there, in my opinion, anyway. So they might not even remember me. I guess that gives me something to be thankful for. Although, I was kind of looking forward to ignoring their knocking at the door. It has been years since I got that opportunity.

They might say to brooklyn that they tried to find you, and you did not answer the door, so they DF'd you. They might go just once to your door, and if your not there, your DF'd.

If they DF you, without you knowing it, do they send you a letter saying you are DF'd ?

All I can say is in my case they are trying.

They showed up at my door this past Sunday after not hearing a peep from them for eight years. My hardcore JW wife knows that I am not pro-WT any longer, so, she answered the door and told them that now would not be a very good time for a visit. My guess is that they told her they'd be calling at another time. My hope is that they call on her when I'm not there because I will not stomache anyone of them trying to strongarm me back into their little multi-level marketing scheme.

Ha! Nice double entendre, Big Tex. Yep, so far this inactive lamb hasn't seen any visits. I have, however, had two phone calls and a card from a couple of ladies who know me - coincidentally this is AFTER I had a tense phone call from a workmate who is a JW (she didn't have the guts to confront me at work), who wanted to know if it was true I was now celebrating birthdays and holidays and, by the way, which congregation did I go to? Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

How true! Being an ex-elder's wife will make it more difficult for me for sure.
