    Hi artful,

In my former life as a devout dub, I had been in the habit of underlining key scriptures in my Bible. So, during this convention day (my first meeting in 4 years), as I carefully followed along in my old Bible, I began to notice an interesting pattern. Without exception every scripture used by every speaker that day was something that I had underlined during my previous years of JW Bible study.

Thanks for the real-life example. I realized this several years ago. I too highlighted the scriptures quoted at the meetings. I was curious why there were so many not used and others quoted 3 times a week (sometimes 3 times a meeting).

    What could those be

    Hebrews 10:24,25

    Matthew 24:14; Matthew 28:19,20

    Matthew 24:45

    Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21

    John 17:3

    John 13:34,35

    Revelation 21:3,4

Are there any that made you scream when you heard it that I have missed?

    Don't forget Genesis 2:7 and Psalm 83:18!!

Thanks, reubenfine. Those are great ones! It's early and my brain is not percolating as well. Also, I have missed many meetings and the repetition for emphasis is not longer being applied in my case.

Actually, this has given me idea for another topic.

Blondie: you are batting 1000 so far!!

    Oh, and don't forget:
1 Cor 15:33 "Do not be misled: Bad association spoils..."
....No! No!... please don't make me say it again!!!

This scriputure is really a fantastic example of the WTS totally missing the point. When you analyse the rest of 1Corinthians 15 what we find are some of the most powerful scriptures in the Bible pertaining to the resurrection of Christ and the resurrection of the dead. But what does the WTS see fit to highlight as an important "lesson" for the flock in all of this?: "Remember Johnny, don't play with the bad kids at school"! Sickening!!!

    Cheers

    Yes, artful, another prime one.

Once I was at a meeting and never once opened my Bible. An elder came over to counsel me. I told him to pick any scripture and I would repeat it word for word. He picked one, then two, then three, then four, then walked away in disgust. Now don't you think he would have been happy that I knew my Bible so well, or at least the NWT?

    How about 2 Corinthians 6:14 or 1 Corinthians 7:39?

    Hi, blondie,

You rock! I enjoy your weekly synopsis of the WT. I would call you a reading between the lines specialist. By the way, when are you releasing your bound volume. Will you expect a voluntary (or involuntary) donation?

    para 18 got me today.

"Although the slave class is defined as "faithful &discreet" ,Jesus did not say that it woud be infallible. This group of faithful annointed brothers still consists of imperfect Christians .Even with the best of intentions, they can be mistaken as such men were sometimes in the 1st Century. However their motive is pure ...."

If they can be mistaken , then we do not have accept everything they say as if it were gospel, then, do we?

My friend lost his eldership after reasoning on scriptures . I can recall a "Special comittee" asking him. "When did you hear the society use that scripture in that way?"

There is only one way , their way in the Borg. Although they like to give out mixed mssages, wait untill the next article counsells against independant thinking.

Perhaps I can then remind them that they admit mistakes.

    Spirit Directed????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The scriptures they cite do not apply. Peter (Who always gets the blame ) was correct in refusing unclean jewish food , at the time he said it. - and when he ate with Jews only ,that was his personal shortcoming, not a wrong policy of the 1st century governing body

    edited for a typo.

Mr. Shakita, thanks for your encouragement. My days are numbered as an active, meeting-attending JW. Thus my access to the rags whoops mags will be limited. But as long as I do I will post my reviews.

    BluesBrother,

The scriptures they cite do not apply. Peter (Who always gets the blame ) was correct in refusing unclean jewish food , at the time he said it. - and when he ate with Jews only ,that was his personal shortcoming, not a wrong policy of the 1st century governing body

Yes, I pointed that out in my review. I'm surprised they didn't point out about those who thought they were already reigning as kings and those who thought the resurrection had already taken place in the time of Paul. But once again, these were mistakes made by individual Christians and not the so-called GB as a group.

Yes, brothers are the target of the WTS/GB more than sisters. Women are portrayed as sexual sirens leading the men away from true worship (Midianite women, Jezebel in Revelation). Men are portrayed as mentally diseased leading weak women who admire personalities away from God.

I am a "weak woman" but have never been unwise enough to directly challenge any man at the congregation. I have learned to have them make their point scripturally first, and when they fail, point out what I have researched. Actually, I love using the WTS own words against an elder and/or brother.

But most days now it is only pearls before swine.

    Hello Blondie,

although very busy, I don't miss any of your excellent "...commentary"

on the - Watchtower study -. Your comments are practical, logical

and expressed with a very balanced and scriptural manner and support.

Sometimes you make me smile because certain things that you have

put in writing...I did say in words to some presumpteuos persons that

love to be called mong other things..sheperds.

I do agree with BluesBrother concerning the wrong application

about Peter and Paul ...they were individual not part of a GB

nor theother apostles were preaching far and wide, publicly

their own - wrong ideas or expectation -.

Thanks again and... all the best from a distant friend,

    James Charles Machislopp
