I agree with aojumper that armaggedon is taught by many religions, though I have never heard it to the extreme that the witnesses do.

That being said, though, as mentioned above, there is nothing we can do about it. We have no idea if it will even be in our lifetime. Thousands of years have gone by with nothing happening. It could be tomorrow, it could be another couple thousand years.

Either way, if we sit back and worry that it is going to happen any moment, we will be very miserable. We need to live productive active lives, and enjoy our time here. What happens later will happen, and we deal with it when it does.

What if armaggedeon was just a warning and it could be changed by seeking world peace? What if armaggedeon was just Johns bad nightmare? What if?....What if?....What if???? This is why I left the B'org in the first place. Too many fairy tales to scare little children and cause widespread paranoia and guilt amoung the desperate souls who were just out to find the real truth, and got sucked into the spoof-troof.

What if??? Well the WT has proven themselves to be false prophets. So regardless of what happened why would you join a false prophet? Wouldn't that be more dangerous than anything else you could do?

Why would God pick an organization that has lied to and manipulated its adherents, torn apart families, espoused doctrines that resulted in the torture and death of hundreds of its members (Malawi), adopt policies resulting in death for many (organ transplants, blood doctrine), simply because one event they preach about is the real thing? If that's the type of God he is, I'd rather die at Armageddon than live under his Taliban-like dictatorship.

My answer is an unequivocal "no way, no how!"

I left the Witness's because I came to realize that I could not worship a god with lower morals than my own, a god that would kill his own children. My heart will not allow me to love or look admiringly upon such a god. If the Witnesses were right and it was either death or loving and following their god, I would take death. I would have to take death, I could not live with myself otherwise.

In many of their depictions of imminent destruction, there are destructees looking defiant. I would just take my phone off the hook so the "I told you sos" couldn't gloat.

First of all, the likelihood of the JWs being correct is just slightly smaller than the likelihood of aliens landing and telling us that the Raelians are right, after all. Discussing impossible hypothetical questions is a waste of time.

I would suggest contemplating a much deeper hypothetical question: If a man speaks in the forrest and there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?

Secondly, If they were right, I would not be accepted back. I have already cursed God and moved on. So why bother trying to claw back in?

Thirdly, who really wants to spend eternity with those mindless, superstitious, drones?

Everybody is right once in a while, probably even the WTS. If someone is right about something once in a while, is that a reason to surrender your individuality, your life, your family and everything else that really matters in life?
