Thought you guys would enjoy hearing this one.

Do you remember all of the 'counsel' about 'word whiskers' that was given during the TheoCraptTic Misery Drool?

My sister and I (about 13-14 at the time) had always laughed at the more consistent word whiskers in our hall. One day, while bored at the KH, we decided to make a game. On one side of a piece of paper we wrote the offensive phrases. On the other side, in random order, were the names of the Offenders.

A kind of "Match-Up" if you will. It was freaking hysterical. We made some copies and distributed it to other teens at the KH. Then some old fuddy duddy mentioned it to my parents, and we got in trouble for even making it.

The really funny part was, my father and mother had a hard time keeping a straight face while counseling us for this particular egregious sin. LOL!

Here are some of the more famous Word Whiskers and mispronunciations from our KH. Feel free to add your own.

    1. And, too (a sister began EVERY comment with this phrase)

    2. NUKE-u-lar war

    3. The Ethiopian YUNCH (yes, she meant eunich, but damned if she didn't say YUNCH every time.

    4. Doot-er-om-i-nee

    5. ahhh (said every third or fourth word by the brother giving the talk on avoiding word whiskers)

    6. The garden of Edom (an Elder)

I will try to add them as I think of them. I hope I've given you a laugh.

This game you have kind of reminds me of Mulan's "bullshit bingo" game: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=27457&site=3

HEY -- anything to keep awake during those meetings, you know?

In your case -- you could have arranged these phrases/word whiskers in different arrays on everyone's bingo card, and the first "player" to get 5 in a row can yell "and, uh... bingo"!!

    Hi Lisa

This was a similar kind of thing, not quite as good as passing out Match-up cards, I must admit.

One elder always said "pacific" or "pacifically" when he should have said "specific". I didn't think it was funny, but annoying and really revealing. Another elder never learned that "irregardless" wasn't a word Lots of the congregation would snicker at that. No one told them, after all, they were the elders.

    Uh, Shoshana, uh......

Duncan, if I have not run out of posts I'm going to bring the Paps and Weno thread bttt. You would have made a fine contribution to our Pioneer Group, may I say. Same irreverent humor.

By the way, now that I'm a mom of an almost teen, I find it wildly outrageous that we even got counseled for this. Let's be truthful. Thos meetings are BORING. Most worldly teens are out doing worldly teen stuff, and here we are attending 5 Christian meetings per week. God forbid you tried to liven it up.
