    Aw, ((((((Puppy)))))

Please try the tanning beds that Been There suggested. They do work. And I have found calcium soft chews (Viactiv) to be effective too. Also, you have email or will in a minute or two.

HI ALL; The sesonal changes don't really bother me, I don't think. But, occasionally here[NC], It has rained for an extend period of time[2-3 months off and on] and it really made me "ILL". I was subjected to monsoon rains when in the Pillipines, but it did't affect me the same way.

It's the Dutch I feel sorry for; there's no winter so gloomy! Let's all send warm wishes to Vivamus!

    Thanx Ozzie.

Yep, I have it too, the cold, dark, gloomy, depressing weather, really gets to me at times.

Just think, Viv, the windmills will be turning again soon!

SAD, never diagonosed with it, but I feel the symptoms. I tend to wake up on my own at sunrise so it is real hard for me to wake up in mid winter. I live far enough north that sunrise is nearly 8'ish right before the eqinox. The sun is way down at 5 pm too

My job used to keep me outdoors all day and that helps.... now I am inside and many days I get to work in the dark and leave in the dark. I make a point to get outsided and walk around, see a little daylight and that really helps. Days that require daylight travel or outdoor tasks- I really feel good.

I am curious about one thing-- in mid winter I get up right away on 6-8 hours of sleep, as long as the clock rings before 5 am. If i set the clock at 6:30 or 7 I become a "snooze" button addict- just can't get up. Why?

    Robyn, wow -

I too get in a total funk starting right around the time when we change the clocks in the fall, and like with you it starts to lift around January. This has gone on for years. It's like some weird primitive thing takes over where the shrinking days cause some sort of psychotic reaction. Once we get past the solstice I feel much better.

I'm so glad I'm not alone in this. I don't get depressed so much as really down and almost apathetic sometimes. I feel robotic some days. Big floppy dog I so feel for you. Please take care. Hillbilly, you only live a little north of me so I know what you mean. I'm a snooze addict too. Don't know why. I'm sorry Viv, is it really dark there? I doesn't get light here til almost 8 and it's dark by 5:30. I suppose I'm just dreaming of April...

Please DON'T try the tanning beds. They are a definite melanoma risk. You can get the flourescent tubes that put out the correct wavelength for SAD without subjecting yourself to the melanoma-causing UVa and UVb type frequencies.
