For those who don't know this "You Know" character, his favorite pastime seems to be trying to figure out how the gibberish of Daniel 11 applies to our time. He and he alone -- not even the Watchtower Society -- has as great an understanding of this gibberish as he does. Naturally, as the old computer programmer expression goes: "garbage in, garbage out".

Here's an example of gibberish. Readers will find it entertaining to see what, if anything, YK comes up with to explain the gibberish.

    YK said:

"The thing decided upon" is apparently the fact that the king of the north is going to tyrannize the world as no imperial tyrant ever has before. The denunciation is what is mentioned in verse 44, described as the king going on a genocidal rampage. Interestingly, this king of the north promotes apostasy in Jehovah's organization until the "time of the end," which apparently affects the organization at its highest levels, causing many to stumble and serving to cleanse and whiten the congregation.

Note that little word "until". Next note what Daniel 11:32-35 actually says about this "apostasy" (from the NWT):

"And those who are acting wickedly against the covenant, he will lead into apostasy by means of smooth words. But as regards the people who are knowing their God, they will prevail and act effectively. And as regards those having insight among the people, they will impart understanding to the many... And some of those having insight will be made to stumble, in order to do a refining work because of them and to do a cleansing and to do a whitening, until the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed."

Note that whoever is led "into apostasy" is so led until the "time of the end" -- not after "the time of the end" begins. Therefore, if this leading "into apostasy" is occuring today, the "time of the end" cannot yet have begun -- and certainly not in 1914 as the Watchtower teaches. Alternatively, if this leading "into apostasy" occurred before 1914, then by the statements of Daniel it cannot be occurring today because the "time of the end" has already begun. So however you cut it, YK's understanding is nothing but gibberish.

Note also that those who, like YK and his beloved "anointed brothers", claim to be the "ones having insight" of Daniel 11:33 and several verses in chapter 12, certainly are not what they claim, since they produce nothing but gibberish. For example, the Watchtower taught until the early 1990s that "the king of the north" (the Soviet Union and its allies) would continually gain power over "the king of the south" (the U.S. and its allies), even predicting that the Soviet bloc would gain complete control over the oil-producing countries of the world, and that the two power blocs would use nuclear weapons on each other. Of course, all that collapsed when the USSR went belly up, leaving "the ones having insight" to lick their prophetic wounds and come up with yet more gibberish -- which they've done. The interesting thing about the latter is that the Society basically says, "we have no idea what's going on with the kings of the north and south, and that shows that we're 'the ones having insight'"! Yep, garbage in, garbage out.

    To one:

YK is correct that a large nuclear device exploded high in the atmosphere could do a lot of damage to unhardened electronic equipment. Whether it's true that one could "fry virtually every 'unhardened' electrical device in the entire nation" is another story. People who study these things simply have no idea how much damage an electromagnetic pulse could do.

Interestingly, for a long time (I don't know any particulars) it seems that Soviet airplanes used vacuum tubes instead of transistors for their simple electronics, which made them far "harder" to EM pulses than American planes. These days electronics is complicated enough that I'm sure no planes use vacuum tubes for anything.

The real question is not whether YK's "sky is falling" scenario could occur, but how likely it is that it would occur. One can debate that endlessly, but the point is that we just don't have enough information to predict that kind of event. It's like knowing about asteroid strikes. We know for certain that the earth has been hit plenty of times by really big asteroids. We're less certain that an asteroid wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. We're even less certain that an asteroid wiped out some 95% of life on earth some 225 million years ago, causing the great Permian extinction that led to the rise of the dinosaurs. Lately some astronomers have been sending out strong warning messages about the possibility of an asteroid strike, but the most likely scenario is what one sanguine astronomer stated: that we most likely won't know about a strike until the thing is crashing through the atmosphere.

We can come up with all sorts of ugly scenarios to scare ourselves. But I'll leave that to the You Know's, the JWs, and the other Chicken Little's of the world.

    YK:

Just a friendly reminder, that in about 5 billion years one large sun exploding at the center of our solar system could fry every electrical device (and all people) in the entire world. Numerous prophecies speak about the fall of the oddly yoked Anglo-American dyad. The only thing at this point that remains unclear is exactly when the downfall will occur.

The Watchtower even commented on the sun exploding several times, along with the significance of the generation that saw the events of the year 5,000,000,014 not passing away. Of course, we can be comforted by the fact that "Jehovah will by now means delay." It might be mere speculation, but the year 4,000,000,014 might have significance too, based on whether Jerusalem fell in 587 or 607 BCE.

Your not believing in the sun running out of hydrogen is like not believing in gravity. And of course, if that's Jehovah's will, then it is inevitable.

Oh, I acknowledge the EMP m'boy. I just don't believe in all that King of the North/King of the South crap. Or any of the other jokes you call prophecies wherein an insane and angry diety swoops down out of heaven and murders 99.98% of his children because they refuse to be sucked in by an equally insane fundamentalist cult.

But you go right ahead. Next, you'll be advancing the theory that this same diety is going to cause us to all come down with Hoof 'n' Mouth disease. Um, after he changes us all into cows, I mean.

    I believe in EMP...
I'm not so sure I believe in your theories about "King of the North"
    Wasn't he Kaiser Wilhelm II?
Didn't President Wilson teach him a lesson in 1918?
Hasn't he been dead since 1941?

    Hi YK,

Good to see you here. We've been wondering when and where you might show up. Unfortuntely, a lot of people here know the old H20 "You Know". If you are the same "Bobby" we'll look forward to your explanations for your last failed interpretations. Wasn't the end supposed to have come in 2000 with a huge economic melt-down, or is that scheduled for this year?

As for EMP, like all-out nuclear war or unleashing mass-destructive bio-chemical weapons...why do it? Despite having nuclear weapons for 50 years no-one has used them in an exchange. The mutual assured destruction has kept these weapons at bay. For that matter and for supporters of the US proposed missile defence system why build it? Does a nation like North Korea think it can achieve anything by launching a missile at the US other than its own complete destruction? Yes, EMP could do what you suggest, Iraq could kill off all human life with bio-chemical weapons. Whether anyone is so foolish has to be seen, but it isn't prophesied in the Bible, due to happen this year or destined to happen.

If you wish these things to happen where does it put you? Are you among the sane or the criminally insane? Destructive cults have often tried to make things "come true" by the folly of destructive acts. I hope you are not of that mentality.
