I've been DF'd for 2 years now. No family contact other than my grandparents. Good riddance. My family is not good.

My husband and I have been out for over 8 years now. Its not been easy being shunned by my family but you eventually get use to it. Up until last year my parents would see my children but I finally put a stop to that as I felt they were trying to brainwash my young daugther into the borg. My Dad, who is an elder, wouldn't even step into my house to pick up the kids, he would stay out in the car. I would just laugh at that.

My brother also an elder, shunned me right from the beginning. He has two children that have since grown up and got married. It hurt when I'd find out that they were getting married and of course never an invite to the wedding, the only way I would find out that they did get married was through my daughter. That hurts but then you get over it and carry on with life.

My immediate family: mother, father, brother do not shun me.

My brother's wife and his children basically shun me but we live in different states so over the years we have drifted apart anyway.

I yearn for their company and the company of my old friends from time to time, because we did have a lot of great times together.

But, you really can't go back. Even if I became a witness again, I'm sure it would not be the same as it was 15 years ago.

Not shunned here, although we just simply don't talk about it. I have made my opinion WELL known in my family circle, so there is no doubt.

My family dis-owned me also. Aug 20,1999, that was the day my mom and 3 siblings told me they wanted nothing to do with me. The reality check happens when you have to name others as benneficiaries, health care proxies ect. Too bad, my family has lost a good son and brother. I haven't been the same since. Occasionally they call for some bullshit reason that just stirs up emotions. I sent them a letter stating that if they want me in their life, it has to be either full time or not at all. Haven't heard from them since.

I been df'd for 12+ years I'm 33 and I have talked to my father once since then and that was only to let him know I was still alive. My mother died when I was 18.

I tried to point out the inconsistencies in this "Law" of shunning to my JW relatives one time...I got a duh!..look. No explanation. Like it is the same everywhere.

They think every JW believes the same. Their minds are closed to even consider that another JW may view shunning differently than they do.

Like I always say..It depends on which hall you go to!...I guess that rules it out as a bible teaching...Duh.....

    Snoozy..

Who prays to be shunned by her JW in- laws!

Forgot to mention that I, too, have the "Say NO to Disfellowshipping: www.freeminds.org" bumper sticker on my van.
