Try this one, my Dad told it to me when I was about 6 or 7 and I wasted days trying to get my head round it.

If it takes 5 men, 5 days to mow 5 fields, how long does it take 1 man to mow 1 field?

the answer is 500 grams.

spinner you were on the right track....

the 10 grams of solid material are 1% in the beginning.....they are however 2% in the end....hence there are 500 grams left.
