Since there are more sisters than brothers in most congregations, many sisters would have the spiritual capacity to be MS or elder. There would be more love in the congregations, and problems would be resolved faster.

Most probably the increase would be greater if woman in the congregation had equal opportunities.

My husband get so livid at the WT's stand on discrimination against women. The elders wanted to "counsel" me on low meeting attendance so they went to him... he said she has a mouth go talk to her! Did you know that women make better astronauts???

The apostle Paul was a male chauvanist by todays standards. He's the one who made all the comments like "I do not permit a woman to teach" and "let a woman learn in silence" and "wives, be obedient to your husbands, blah, blah, blah."

Jesus was far more liberal and tended to treat women far better than other men of the day. He spoke to the woman at the well, he appeared to women first after being resurrected.........Paul was totally influenced by the culture he was raised in and his comments in the bible are, in my opinion, not inspired by God, but his own personal opinion.

Just as our culture has changed to where we don't own slaves any more, then the culture that discriminated against women 2,000 years ago shouldn't be taken as gospel truth today in the 21st century.

    Mary,

Come on now, Paul was not teaching these things. He was teaching against them. And this is just the tip of the iceburg. The ones teaching these things like the Corinthian Jews, and James that Paul constantly fought against also believed in keeping the Law of Moses. By not paying attention to all the texts and just picking verses like this many have propogated this distorted view of Paul. But if we read the texts in proper context we will see that this was a teaching Paul tried to stop.

Yumbby -- excellent thoughts. You know that the elders are just following the "divine arrangement" recogzning the head of the family? If they were to talk directly to you, that would overrule your husband's "lordship" !! So, um, they gotta tell him what to tell you. GOT THAT?? Don't question it, even if it's illogical. It's the theocratic way.

    Now as to your question:

Did you know that women make better astronauts???
The reason for that is obvious: if women get lost in space, at least they have the sense to ask for directions!!

The sisters in the congregation have to remember their place in the divine arrangement of Jehovah's own chosen organization:
