Sounds like what we have in the USA, called Cracker Jacks? Are they a candy coated popcorn treat?
A question for those in the UK...

You've got to get the crackers = something edible thing out of your head, TH. A christmas cracker is a long tube twisted at the ends that two people pull. It goes "crack!" and someone ends up with the big end, which contains the party hat, toy and joke (it's an Aussie tradition too).

Here's a pic of my family and some friends on Christmas Day. Note the paper hats (crowns - one over a Santa hat). Also, there is an unexploded Christmas Cracker at the end of the table.

More typical cracker jokes are:
What do you call a fly with no wings?
A walk
What do you call a fly with no legs or wings?
A current

Just got a virtual Christmas Cracker from Princess.
The joke: What do you get when you walk under a friendly cow? A pat on the head!
So Princess, is this likely to become a new Christmas tradition at the E..... household?
