  Danish police shoot teddy at Jehovah's Witness hall

  COPENHAGEN, Jan 23 (Reuters) - A Danish bomb squad shot to pieces a teddy bear left on the doorstep of a Jehovah's Witness hall on Thursday evening with a note saying it contained a bomb, police said.

  A group of Jehovah's Witnesses on their way into a meeting had found the cuddly toy with a note reading: "If you touch me I will blow up. I am a bomb."

  Police told the 80 Jehovah's Witnesses to leave the hall in a quiet suburb 10 km (six miles) northwest of Copenhagen, and closed off the surrounding area to traffic.

  A bomb-disposal robot then approached the bear. "The bomb unit fired two shots at the teddy bear and there was no reaction. There is nothing that indicates that there actually was a bomb," a Copenhagen police duty officer told Reuters.

  Police said they were trying to establish who was responsible for the hoax.

  Oh great.

  I hope they find the jackass that put that bear there. That was uncalled-for, wrong, just plain stupid. What was accomplished? Delay of a meeting, scaring of a bunch of people who are probably pretty good folks, and wasting the time of cops who could be out there doing something much more useful like getting a drunk driver or crack dealer off the streets.

  Somebody ought to slap his momma for having him!

  I don`t like the idea of anyone being terrorized with bomb threats(dubs included),but police shooting the stuffing out of a teddy bear is funny.The dubs will have something to talk about in their boreing,repeditive lives,and no one got hurt..LOL!...OUTLAW

  I see something more sinister about this than just a stupid prank. It could be intended to help discredit the silentlambs movement, after all, they leave stuffed toys on KH doorsteps.
