I knew a guy in college that appeared to be a throw-back to the neanderthal time. He had all the characteristics of Neanderthals, unusally long arms, short, squat, and very hairy body, large head. He looked like he had stepped out of museum of anthropology. His nickname was "neandy". I always wondered if it was a case of DNA roulette.

This earth is very old. There have been various types of humanoids created here. Some survived the cataclysm of their time. Most didn't. Even Genesis discusses "two different creations of man". The garden of Eden was just one hot spot of genetic experimentation....this time "in the image of the creators".
We have only bits and pieces of our human history. Someday, perhaps we will know the truth about "us".

I Don't Buy It.Similar to what the Catholic church said in the face of evidence disputing the geocentric model in Galileo's day. The Catholic church finaly capitulated on its interpretation of the scriptures regarding cosmology... and they've recently done the same regarding evolution. There is just too much evidence supporting it to be able to continue denying it and remain intellectually honest. Even if evolution were wrong, there is absolutely no evidence that can be put forward for special creation. There is every reason not to 'buy' into that myth.

I read some papers a couple of years ago, from Spain I think, that modern man relics were older than those from Neanderthals in some regions, indicating they had lived side by side for quite some time, and also other threads of evidence pointing to their mingling, breeding, whatever, melting into one race.
What I hate? When people make fun of what people earlier believed, and brag that "Now we know how it is, what it is like, now we have the 100 % truth, no further evidence is needed" - and then, say in 10 years' time, theyare ones who will look rather stupid, because then new things will have been unearthed or discovered.
We don't know for sure now, it's an ongoing process, we might have an overall picture, but suddenly something is discovered that overthrows much of it.
