I think JWs should have to work on paid holidays. I work with 3 of them & they even accept the annual HOLIDAY bonus as a GIFT from the company.....hmmmmm. What do you all think about this.

What's wrong with putting down the system while milking it for everything it's worth? Since they render unto Caesar, they're entitled to that systems benefits.

I feel an overwhelming desire to help these folks but its difficult when they are constantly contadicting themselves. This happens from literally one minute to the next!! Im frustrated!!

Good point, Sargon. I was always ripped for that by my co-workers. I never knew what to say in reply. I did feel a little hypocrital for accepting it.

Bye the way, welcome to the board GotJesus!!

I don't see it as a contradiction. A holiday is just a holiday, a cheque is just a cheque. Both can be accepted as long as they don't conflict with whatever doctrine the old farts in Brooklyn(TOFB) are vomiting out this year. Most of the witnesses I know are sincere individuals who try earnestly to follow their leaders. There are exceptions to every rule.

The bigger issues at hand are the inconsistencies and contradictions handed down by TOFB. The more you follow this board, Gotjesus, the more of these you'll see.

There is a huge JW owned business in Phila. called Penn Herb (www.pennherb.com). It is owned by a JW family and they only hire JW's to work for them. I was told the owners do this so they don't have to give them paid holidays.

BTW, If you go to their web site, you can see a picture of the Betz Family. Don't they look JWish?

The JW's exception to every rule is measured by their "concscience", that the society trains for them! They believe that something cannot be contradictory if it is decided by their own personal conscience!

Thanks for the welcome!! There seems to be a wealth of great info here, I hope to gain more insight.

I should let it be known that I am not a former JW, I just feel as if I have had a "calling" to help JWs in particular, to a better way through Christ our lord & savior.

When I was a witness, I'd fill in for other techs who wanted to be off on the holiday and they'd cover for me when I needed a day off. Too bad most of my days off were wasted at assemblies. But not anymore!

They work for it, they should get it, no matter what they believe.
