It's gonna change eventually with GB 3.0 or 4.0, in rural Africa they don't enforce it, I think. When they realize that people run away from an strict dress code they are gonna relax it.

However, they want to project the image of intelligent businesslike people when speaking to ‘worldly’ persons who in general are certainly more educated and would not respect somebody who isn’t
Yep. That polyester suit will do the trick. Those long slinky skirts attract comments ( sexy) I watched and listened incognito at work

ROAD TO NOWHERE:
I was mostly referring to the power suit look and not some girl there in a tight skirt.

I neglected to mention, that when the elders had a problem with the way I looked, I was 13 years old. They said I looked 18.

BIAHI:
Sorry you went through that unhealthy scrutiny about your appearance at such a young age. I wonder what your parents had to say about this?
I was in my twenties and even though what I experienced in the JWs was unpleasant and unfair as far as I was concerned, I was older than you and could deal with it. Glad this nonsense is all in my past.
I was reading on some blog that similar attitudes are also common in other Christian churches, which is one reason I’d never go near ANY of them.

At my Dad's funeral I wore my fine western suit and boots, minus the hat and the six gun rig. My wife wore a pantsuit, talk about dirty looks, but we don't follow that crowd nor their silly rules. They all dress up like use car sales people.

Long Hair Gal, my parents defended me. They knew I was getting picked on. But it’s still the truth lol.

The JW MO seems to be; Be different but leave something in place that we can point to to prove we're normal.
Dressing up makes the JW feel special. If they didn't feel special they might start listening to the message. And we know what would happen then.

Does any bethelite remember brother Underwood with his cowboy boots under his suit, and wearing his western tie? Head of all construction projects. Who to correct him?
Then we had that English brother on the WD who started showing up without a tie at morning worship. I forgot his name. He used to write Watchtower articles. Arrogant but a great speaker, he was in our congregation, Brooklyn heights.
