Isn't that the same method that we have condemned Christendom for using regarding the Hellfire doctrine ???

Haven't we always condemned Christendom for using pictures and images of Hell to "scare" their believers back into church and to "scare" others from leaving.

Aren't we guilt of doing the same thing?

I don't know why I noticed this, but for some reason it jumped out at me as I scrolled through the pictures ...

Note the thing that looks like a set of three stairs in the upper right hand corner... Now look at this picture...

Why in the world would they put stairs into these gloom and doom pictures? I've never thought a set of stairs would detach from a building and fall into a pit. Weird.

Oh, and while I'm at it, why in the first picture was Jehuber pissed at the tiger and kill him? Did he not want to eat straw or something? And where in the world did a tiger come from in the middle of the city? Was he just out for a Sunday stroll?

I'm more disturbed at the notion that only JW's in good standing who attend all the meetings, prepare for them, give comments, and go out in FS will be the only ones saved. As for the pictures - many religions teach the earth will be consummed with fire and wicked ones burning in torment forever in Hell.

Both my sister and I used to have nightmares about those images.

Me too. Bad ones. And everytime there was a violent thunderstorm I wanted to piss my pants. I won't even go into my utter terror and nightmares of those awful demons! You know how you were supposed to be able to say "Jehovah" and the demons would flee? Well, in my re-occuring nightmare demons were everywhere, and would never leave as I screamed and shouted "Jehovah Jehovah Jehovah" over and over until I woke up. No wonder I was so f***ed up as a kid.

Edit: Ahhhh - my next post is the magical 1,000th post! Whever will I use it for??????!!!!!!!

Do you think the extremest that attacked the USA on 9/11 reviewed these magazines/books? Used them as a road map or how to guide?

It would appear, my dear friends, that terror comes from many sources.

I guess I was never a very good Dub, I always hated these pictures. The very idea of smiling and being all happy while so many people suffer and die. I would look at those pictures and think about the worldy people I knew, none of whom I thought deserved such a fate. My Father and Grandmother were first to come to mind, followed by school teachers and nice people I had met in service.

I think that cold blooded murderers deserve to die.. beyond that, I can't even imagine how any one could be happy while people die... children, for gods sake!! and those horrible pictures always made it so vivid, the pain and suffering these people would go through at the end. All those times I should have been meditating on how wonderful the new system would be, I couldn't get it out of my head how horrifying the last moments would be for those destroyed.

    A loving god? I don't think so!!

Scrolling through those pictures brought back horrible memories, especially the ones from the Paradise Book, I remember those pictures scaring the life out of me.. and wondering now, how dare the WTS frighten people especially children... I tell you the WTS have really peed me off today...

Like many others here, I remember the scary visions from the Paradise book, one thing, in particular, I recall being like a huge tidal wave destroying people.

But you know what was scarier? The pictures of the survivors of Armageddon. They were sitting around wearing Hawaiian clothes and reading the Paradise book. I knew even back then that I didn't really want things to be the way the JW's were picturing them.

It seems to me that the WT publications are geared toward appealing to people with 2nd grade reading levels. How appropriate.
