District convention hotels

YellowLab, I remember the Sheraton in Madison, right across the street. Stopped in to visit people there, but never stayed there. I think it was both pricey and always filled up fast. Since you could predict your assembly weekend from year to year, you could practically make your reservations as far out as they would let you. I seem to remember the Sheraton being very picky about non-guests being there. In particular, I remember one thing to do at night was to go visit your friends who had a pool at their hotel and go swimming. I think we did that once at the Sheraton, but they kicked us out for not having proof we were staying there.

I remember staying at various places on the east side of Madison near some mall. Quite frankly, I don't remember paying too much attention to the official hotel lists. At one point, I think we just started calling and found out who had the best rates. We'd toss out the JW thing to see if they had a deal (some hotels that weren't on the official list did offer deals) or we'd ask about corporate discount rates or AAA rates. I know quite a few times we didn't stay at official hotels because most of them were booked.

I remember my brother and I staying near the campus area once, knowing how cool Madison and State St. can be. But alas, things weren't very lively with college out-of-session.

cruzanheart, was that the tornado from a just few years ago? Like 3-5 years ago? That's fairly recent. Sort of assumed you may have been out of the org for longer than that.

I have a friend, who every year, reserves rooms at the nearest hotel to the Tacoma Dome. She reserves for three weekends (the DA is always one of those three). She does it about November, and says it's for a family reunion (not a terrible lie). When she learns the dates of the convention they will be going to, she cancels the other reservations. She always gets a much better price than the WTS gives. It's worked for her for about 15 years.

    Brainstorm!!

These are great places to place fliers re: all things Watchtower that is corrupt.

What are the stadiums in California? I will organize that each one gets a pack o' fliers, delivered by ME, personally. I will exercise my freedom of press and speech to distribute FREELY, the Real Truth about the jehovah's witnesses church...in a civil manner.

    Is Qualcomm one this year?

Don't you see people, the opportunities to spread the 'good news'? Cease them!

Dino, see what I was referring to? How many of these opportunities are passed on or just not a passing thought. I just don't understand it. Action, in physical ways, is key to 'INOCULATION'!

    'Let's roll' people.

    sKally, brainstorm overload klass

Wait, you said the 'convention hotels'...

EVEN BETTER! The public, not only jws, will be in these hotels.

    Lets roll people!!

It is so simple and rejuvinating to do this. A feeling that you're really trying, and hopefully succeeding, in a giant effort to 'inoculate' people (saving their very life at times) permeates you.

    Try it!!

sKally...leaves fliers on grocery store sheles, restaurant bathrooms and wait areas, malls, buses, just about everywhere now klass ACTION!

Yes, jws, that was the tornado of a few years ago. I've been troubled about the organization for about 15 years but being a stubborn half-Greek hung in there until it was made painfully obvious last May that this was the worst place in the world to raise children and try to build spirituality. So I guess I'm technically a newbie but it's been coming for a while.
