Imagine having to tell adult people who are what the WTS says, "chosen from Jah" how to conduct themselves when representing the WTS at a hotel.......oh wait this is the same B'orginization that snoops into private lives of it's members too! Been out too long I guess?

This thread reminded me of how much I always hated those KM inserts, I mean really how demeaning can you be, sheese!

When in hotels, I had the bad habit of shitting in the pillowcases before I left, and I never left a tip for the maid. Now, after a bible study with Jehovahs Witnesses, I no longer commit, 'the unoriginal sin'. My anus is as clean as my conscience. The power of God.

First they browbeat the masses into a state of infantile servility by relentlessly demonizing ``independent thinking" and ``submission to the elders" and then from the other side of their mouths bemoan the pervasive lack of maturity in the rank and file. The annual warnings as to behavior sound much more appropriate to class monitors and teacher/chaperone lectures adolescents on the eve of their departure for the High School Senior Class Trip. It's ludicrous how the boys in Brookyn fret over making sure the baptismal candidates ``get the message" that two-piece bathing suits and thongs are a ``no-no"

I recall one time when a JW elder, when called upon to pray at the start of a dubbie wedding reception, turned the prayer into an occasion to lecturer the supposed adults in attendance about ``setting a good example"" in matters of decorum and termperance so as to set a proper example to the ``non-witnesses among us." And no JW blinked, or thought it patronizing and condescending.

It never seems to dawn on the leadership that the attainment of emotional/spiritual maturity on the one hand and mindless obedience to fallible human leaders are mutually exclusive goals.

What cracks me up is when the distric assembly is local and they still waste time on those hotel reminders.

ROFL! That's hilarious avengers! Read the article then stick it in the bathroom!

I remember the witnesses would bitch and moan to us about A. not staying on the society's approved list and B.not going to a convention that we're assigned to. We especially got it on the B part. I got mad at them and told them to stfu. Strange thing is it was always women that got on our case about it--never the guys. But of course it was OK for them to chase to one assembly after another that they weren't assigned to so they could chase their new guy of the week. The hypocrite scale pegged off the scope on that one.

Hi RubaDub, LOL! that's agreat name!

I just love it when I read things such as this in the KMs:

    In the 5/99 Kingdom Ministry:

"Some of the food vendors in the convention facilities being used are now demanding that they be allowed to open their food stands and serve the delegates attending our conventions. If this were permitted, many worldly people would be mixing in company with us during the day."

Because we all know that the KMs are published and given to "insiders" who are JWs.

Then I turn around and read things such as this in

The Greatest man Whoever Lived book , in chapter 85
" The Pharisees and scribes treat common people like dirt under their feet. In fact, they use the hebrew expression `am haa'rets, "people of the land [earth]," to show the disdain they have for such ones. On the other hand, Jesus treats everyone with dignity, kindness, and compassion."

It could very well be said that...

The Jehovah's Witnesses treat common people like dirt under their feet. In fact, they use the expression "worldy", which is a synonym for the word "earthly",to show the disdain they have for such ones. On the other hand, Jesus treats everyone with dignity, kindness, and compassion.

In my opinion, the Watchtower INC printing factory teach it's followers to be Phariseelike. Not Chrsitlike.

    peace,

i didnt realise that taking food that you had already paid for in the hotel was actually stealing?

"why not make a good impression by witnessing to people in the hotel?" was one comment from a meeting i attended once. can u imagine being harrassed all weekend in a hotel by all these JWs? you may have gone there for a quiet relaxing break, and then you get hassled by all these religionists. i cant think of anyone who has a good impression of JWs.

Like Outlaw, this is news to me about Society-sanctioned hotels! Bizarre, bizarre!

About the time I exited in 1979, they had started assigned seating, with members of a particular congregation together, at assemblies. Does this still go on?

Of course, the reason there are so many assemblies is to keep JW's busy while they're on vacation so they can't relax and enjoy themselves and realize the joys of "worldly" life. My JW experience came to mind when I was watching one of those "mafia" movies (it might have been "Married to the Mob") in which the main character/narrator says something to the effect that members of the organized crime families didn't even go on vacation with their families; instead, they went as a large group and kept an eye on one another. Being "organized" in a high control "organization" certainly does inhibit one's ability to be able to figure out what is considered "appropriate" by their puppet masters.

I love being disorganized. I am always making the most amazing discoveries!
