Just when my a non-christian mother-in-law thought she had heard everything about JW's, she was thrown for a loop with last night's program. She's been familiar with the JW's in my community and my mother all her life, not to mention her daughters marrying JW's. In this case, familiarity didn't breed contempt but rather total shock. Now, if she's been familiar with the witnesses all her life, and is stunned of what she saw and heard, just what emotional and mental state will BE of those who are not as familiar with the JW's?

A baptized witness who stays in touch with me, said, she's been telling others about the Fifth Estate airing the pedophile problem within the witnesses. As usual, their reply has been, it's apostate propaganda.

Well, the org. will reap what is has sown.

yes I can not get over how callous these people are in thinking it's apostate and therefore not the truth. I remember telling an older sister who had not seen the dateline show about the pedohile problem, and her response was the same. "those apostates will twist things around". I just kept thinking how awful Erica had been treated.

How Blind, it's like they are the blind leading the blind.

I think those who are not familiar with the JW's are getting familiar with them through this type of, shall we say "witnessing"

Hi SF, hope everything is well with you.

imanailento, my mother-in-law never knew about this problem because we never told her about. Anyways, it's over with and she's dazed from it. My oldest son son was violated when he was very young and he never told us who it was except that we would be surprised. My wife and I talked about this morning and tried to figure out who it may be. I just hope it isn't someone that I"ve had dealings with or a relative. In due time he will reveal it, so we don't pressure him. A social worker who is a personal acquaintance of my wife says that the community we live in has a lot of such problems. So, it is a big problem.

It isnt so hard to understand their TOTAL denial of these events considering the people involved in the actual ACT deny it! Mothers whose children are being defiled by their own HUSBANDS deny it happens! The JWs will continue to deny it verbally but you know what? Those same ones will keep it inside their hearts...it will eat at them...and will open their eyes to MORE of this stuff they hadnt known before about Jehovahs ORganization. They will slip silently out the back door one day too. And....those who were considering joining wont now and those who were doubting in the first place, now have the extra shove they needed to leave. It WILL have repurcussions. The Borg can scream "PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!!" as loud as they want to...they ARE being revealed! Why do the JWs accept that Jehovah will reveal things within the congregations and NOT at the SOCIETY level? Thats just ignorant.

The org. has no else to blame except themselves especially knowing their were over twenty-three thousand such cases on file! Did these people think for a moment that it would never leak out? They're so concerned about the end of the world, and saving people, that by being silent about this issue they were killing innocent children right on their doorsteps! Is their something wrong with this picture?

The JWs are no different that any other religion(cult). It seems there is a percentage of people who will be bad in every group.(Apostates included) Whatever causes this in humans is not known and it seems we all must be on the alert to protect our loved ones as best we can and do whatever it takes not to be caught up in it ourselves. Life sucks sometimes, and is great at other times. All we can do is try to improve it when an opportunity comes along and not burry our heads in the sand.

We cetainly don't want to be like the GB and cover it up to protect our self interest.

Undecided, you said, "The JW's are no different than any other religion (cult)." Yes, this is what her daughter (my wife) told her mother and it is becoming increasingly evident. Indeed life sucks at times. Today, my wife used the F word which is not her style to utter abusive language. If we bury our heads in the sand, look at all the info that we will miss out on. Oh what a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive.

When my JW mother in law watched the Dateline show dealing with the abuse in the Jehovah's witness religion...she asked hubby (JW) if he knew any JW pedophiles and he said "No!"..She said she didn't either..therefore...they don't exist!!!.(At least that was their answer to the accusations!)....

    Intelligent answer huh?...

    Snoozy.....

Golden Girl, my mother-in-law ( a non-christian) can give your in laws an ear full about JW's, and I mean an ear full! Amazing how some people (groups) have a closed mind. Oh well, such is life.
