Well, you can see why Cain would hate Abel, especially since Abel was able to lower his cholesterol. The man was jealousy personified.

Now, I would call this a dysfunctional family. First off, Eve believes in a talking snake. She has only one rule to follow, don't eat from one cotton picken tree. Can she follow that one simple rule? Nooooooo. Then Adam, who is supposed to be the head of the house, I mean head of the garden, agrees with her, and he eats. So they get booted out of Paradise, with marines, I mean angels with spinning swords to keep them out. So, now they have two sons, and Cain kills his brother. Now, this is not the kind of news you want to see in your local paper about your family. Well, for being perfect, Adam and his wife sure did get us off to a bad start as a species.
Not to mention running off and with his sister. They make the Sopranos look like the Brady Bunch.
BTW, I always wondered why, if God is so perfect and could read the heart, he was so ineffectual as a paternal type that he couldn't have straightened Cain out. I mean, cripes, it couldn't have hurt to give the kid a little special attention for all those veggies now could it? To me it seems that God is being a bit dysfunctional here too.

Why does God let anyone be killed. The questions for centuries.
HAHAHAHAHAHA Valis I colored that one in last night :D
Valish, thanks for the illustration!!! Did you get your dish cloth?
Is that how you see me...as Jehovah loving? I love God, but haven't called him Jehovah since I left the org. Don't know if I ever will.
By way of an explanation, I've had problems with the Bible ever since I opened one up as a nonjw kid. I am seeing it differently...not literally or with disgust. I'm seeing if it has value to me. If I look at the stories as symbols of life's lessons, I can come to grips with all the other emotions I've had regarding it. I feel this is part of my growth.
I purposely put this post here under Personal Beliefs to share my thoughts on it. I know a lot of people probably don't understand me, but that's okay. These boards are here for healing and this is part of the process for me.

You're not foolin me! I'm as perverted as you when it comes to subtle humor! Let's have it for Shadrack, Meshackin with To-bed-we-go!

Abels God just would rather have blood offerings than offerings of vegetable and grain. Hes a meat eater.
