"Hope you don't get rained out, Stephanus. Make sure you get under some cover!"
You're right there, Prisca! Now, two hours before I have to make the decision to go, the rain is pretty heavy; we may have to go for Plan B. Trouble is, Plan B is the Bulli Fair, also partly outdoors! Oh, well, there's always TV!
why does
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
come to mind?
count me in if the experience will resemble the movie. . .
CHUCK
Gambling and Jdubs, is it a disfellowshipping offense? Well of course it is unless of course your a pioneer, ms, elder, or well to day or extremely well liked. If you have ever seen witnesses at Las Vegas, when they think no one is looking at them they you will see a lot of witnesses gambling. Several towns, cities have Casinos in or near them, a lot more than jdub eating goes on there too. I can't believe that its a disfellowshipping offense to gamble at them, but not a disfellowshipping offense to eat there and support them through that means. You know of any supposed Jdub (indian witnesses) who get profits from the tribe do to gambling casinos, well of course they do but gee thats not gambling huh??? Buff
Chuck,
I believe the experience would be a tad more surreal than the movie.

Man how time flies! Can't believe this was my first topic. IIRC, our horses did okay, but the pony rides my son was looking forward to were cancelled due to the weather.
Hey, SlimJimFatArse can dredge up old irrelevant posts, why can't I?
It's good you've been here for over 5 years you must have seen a lot of things happening on the board during that time including flame wars and trolling.

You're right there! Back then we had REAL trolls. And lots of smarties to keep them under control. We've still got a few of the smarties, such as AlanF and Blondie, but the troll talent is getting a bit thin on the ground. And sometimes the best way to survive into the future is to keep your head down - probably while I'm still here, still posting. Posting fluff, mainly, but still posting!
Gambling was always a major no when I was in. JW's I knew wouldnt even accept a free ticket if it involved an element of chance and a prize. (our supermarket used to give away free tickets with purchases).
When I was a kid we used to go on holiday to Filey (a typical english seaside town) and my dad wouldnt let me play the penny arcades because it was gambling. Even though it was literally a penny you were betting on most of the games.
My partner plays poker over the internet for money and I still have a vague uneasiness about it, even though the most he risks is about $10.

Trev is in a lottery syndicate, only £2 per week, and has no conscience about it at all. There is a syndicate at my work place, but I still can't bring myself to join it, or go in for any other form of gambling. Trev has asked me what I'd do if his syndicate came up and he won a lot of money, would I want to benefit from his new - found riches, and I honestly don't know how I'd feel about it. The feeling might pass in time, but I still don't feel comfortable with the thought of any form of gambling.
